That's the dream, then tomorrow hits, reality hits and we get told Jack Colback is travelling up for a medical

We the spend hours convincing each other this is the perfect type of player we need due to his "experience" and how he is captain material :emoticon-0102-bigsm
VDB has hardly kicked a ball since going to Manu. And they paid 50m for him. However it’s definitely worth a punt as there must be some quality in there.

Haidara and Carlos deals with Trippier and Wood and possibly Cantwell. Possibly Ekitike.

That would be a jizz of a transfer window.

Mix of experience and youth.

I'm not seeing what's so special with this Ekitike kid. I would rather go all out for Cabral personally. He looks strong, has a turn of pace, good technically scores goals ranging from the air, screamers from outside the box and loves a bicycle kick into the nets too. This Ekitike lad never seems to do anything cleanly, it always seems to involve a rebound or some form of luck.

Here's all the players we are not signing today:

Burnley have held talks with Lens about signing Ivory Coast midfielder Seko Fofana from the French club. Leeds and Newcastle have also been linked with the 26-year-old. (Mail)

Newcastle are in talks to sign Reims striker Hugo Ekitike and the 19-year-old Frenchman is keen on a move to Tyneside. (Sky Sports)

Newcastle are preparing a bid for 23-year-old RB Leipzig and Mali midfielder Amadou Haidara. (Mail)

Newcastle have made a new £28m offer for Sevilla and Brazil defender Diego Carlos. The Magpies previously had a £25m bid for the 28-year-old turned down. (Talksport)

I get the feeling we need to beat Watford to get some of the more exciting names to say go on then..

Just a couple of days

I still think regardless of result the bigger names are a week or so away for replacements being lined up by parent clubs. AFCON isn't helping either.

Quickly checks to see what ****e we can buy from teams like Namibia.

If we signed them all it would be reasonable window, maybe. Take away Haidara and it would be quite lacklustre. Obviously a clear improvement over a typical MA window (it was that as soon as we signed Trippier). Individually I would feel the following about each transfer you mention:

Haidara - exciting transfer
Carlos - unconvinced
Trippier - impressed
Wood - underwhelmed
Cantwell - unconvinced
Ekitike - unconvinced

Think Andy Cole. You got to be in the right position at the right time.

All better than what we currently have. Carlos is far better than any defenders we have.

Wood I understand where your coming from but I think he might surprise some of us.

Cantwells a good player mate I don't know the others though

Looked good the few times I've seen him play. Haven't paid sufficient attention to Norwich to have a fully informed opinion though. Norwich fans do seem fairly united in wanting him gone - and not all of the comments are in relation to his attitude. Thus, I remain unconvinced.
