On the Green issue; one relatively easy green 'tweak' we could easily apply is to convert our current combustion engines to run on hydrogen. The exhaust from burning hydrogen is water and the principle of a controlled explosion in a chamber forcing a piston down can be followed here.
Obviously hydrogen is far more explosive than petrol so the health and safety would need careful consideration, but I read this week that some aircraft engine manufacturers are already looking at this as the next generation of jet engine.
Hydrogen is created by electrolysis - you could have a tank under your garage floor and simply fill up from your own source from time to time - and older vehicles could be easily adapted, reducing the need for mass manufacturing of specifically designed vehicles.

Boris Johnson is still a twat though and shouldn't have been hosting - or even attending - parties whilst the rest of us were locked down under the threat of £10k fines and a criminal record for breaking lockdown rules.

wow a spelling error , and you saw right through it, must be right then you are long lost identical phsyhic twins!!!! ... both have very very severe red mists of hate toward either Boris or LJ! :emoticon-0140-rofl:
Didnt manage to watch PMQ's but get the feeling every question asked was with "Boris resign in it" ... Did watch the interviews after 1230 on the beeb and there was one labourite on there that shows just how unnatural they are regarding what is considered correct in a country of democracy. couldnt define "party" and asked in a Q&A retort what would you like Boris to do if found totally not guilty ... resign, was the answer, 1 word only. Brainwashed with no real ability to consider right or wrong ... told keep on saying it "boris resign" a million times and it will stick oneday. Hey Corbyn tried the same!.
Another good point made was to her was "no matter should Boris resign, whoever takes his place your response will be to insist he resigns" ... sad sad labour, ............ glad I am not affiliated to any party, I can make my own mind up and not not be herded by the swineherd!!!

Total common sense regarding Hydrogen. I remember my cousin whom was a manager for Mercedes (Geek with engines), explaining the workings and how this would be a better way to go than just electric, with the problems of the grid coping and what happens to the lithium once the batteries become useless..

there is a bit of "lack of understanding" by a lot of people regarding green energy and saving the planet! it is interesting to see peeps different takes on it ... eg lithium battery and tesla car. A good statement, well half statement! .. assume it is correct 2 years [ for one to made ] = 2.0l diesel running. Other half of statement is after 2 years a nett gain of x years battery can be recycled at less than cost of a new one. The by products of diesel particulates is zero from day one and carbon affect is less damaging in production of TESLA than 2.0l diesel engine driven car.. so nett gains added makes more sense.
Rewilding ..been doing that for decades, as has many 000's I have 3 oak saplings growing in my garden, in ever bigger pots, now heights are about 70cms. will plant out along with the 50 so others I have done in the past 30 or more years.. also done beech and elder will start on ash next year. Elm was successful for about 10 -12 years but dead wood was good for outdoor furniture .... !

Actually JGF I am the original 'floating voter'. I have never aligned myself to one party or movement and every time I've voted in an election it's been with reservations and lukewarm support.
In my time I've voted for all 3 of the 'main' parties.
The current choice of political leadership we have in this country is DIRE - the worst I can ever remember. NONE of them deserve to be anywhere near the House of Commons.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson has apologised for attending a "bring your own booze" party during the first coronavirus lockdown.
He told MPs the event in the Downing Street garden was "technically within the rules" but he should have realised how it would look to the public.

    This is just BS
From my understanding you were allowed to meet 1 person, outdoors with a 2 metre gap between you as per the instruction given by Oliver Dowden earlier on during the day of May 20th 2020..
So how on earth can a party, where 100 people were invited, and where 40 turned up, be 'technically within the rules' ??
The bloke is simply deluded and believes his own lies and half truths

I'd be interested to see a list of all the businesses (gyms, pubs etc) that closed down for good, due to the imposition, compliance or enforcement of the lockdown rules, and how many individuals were prosecuted for holding 'illegal gatherings'.
I bet those people who's businesses have failed and those individuals with fines will have something to say.

And all the pubs and restaurants and many garages all lost to Covid while the w*nkers partied.
They should be prosecuted. Surely the Met Police should be building a case against any/all such people who it's proven have broken the law ?

If he honestly believes that that was "technically within the rules" he's even more of a numpty than people had already given him credit (?) for!!

The Tories should bomb him out of No.10 on that one thing alone, because people up and down the country really feel ****ed over by him more so now than ever!!

we need to await whatever the investigation comes up with. ........... EG you state rules of 1 on 1 were on day event [20th] .. so in that vein what happens on the evening with 1 on 1 2m apart is fine .. outside .... however check out my post of when things changed ... 13th May... [ on 14th ] I met my mate first time for a couple months at UPHILL and we walked 2+m apart [ 5km ] at the end we stood about 3-4m apart and consumed a celebratory beer.
Another thing, most of the people there were couples so technically 1 bubble in contact with 1 bubble ... At the time 20th, there were 000's taking advantage of the partial relaxing of rules to meet 1 on 1 . Sir Keir "Hindsight" Starmer today made a statement in the commons " the PM partied whilst the rest of the nation was in total lockdown" will he apologise should it be proven the country was not in total lockdown, but actually in the first throws of being liberated? Will all those opposition MP's that used a family member /relative to emphasise their anti 20th May " gathering" stance? ...bearing in mind some of their losses were weeks before the party, or indeed after it![ when rules for people meeting were relaxed further .. but protection for NHS and care WAS STILL RIGIDLY in place......

Clearly BJ (how appropriate) has received a diploma from the "Donald Trump University of Bullshit" and is now taking his exams in "How can I get out of this mess without telling any truths". The man is an absolute clown in a Trump look alike hairdo that should know by now that his goose is now over done and could burn up in the elevated atmosphere in which he travels. He should go now.

This is not a defence. Government, central offence, the Ministry of defence etc could hold meetings. Are meetings parties? Technically they could be.

With the wording of the email shown in the media, you would have to have had the most incredibly vivid imagination to even remotely think that was a “business meeting”!!

    Or high on something!!!

It was a bloody party - you know it - they know it, we ALL know it, EVERYONE knows it. Emails and photo/CCTV will also prove it - that must be one of the most secure sites in the UK.

As for the Met saying (originally) that they wouldn't investigate 'because the alleged event happened in the past..', WTAF? Murders and other crimes happen in the past - do the police only follow up on crimes happening in the present now? ... or was it perhaps an excuse because Cressida Dick didn't want to investigate her paymasters......?

I was answering a point about technically. My Mrs is a civil servant and her work place is technically different. Her workplace was exempt to the rules that other environments had to adhere. The Ministry of defence could have gatherings of individuals as its essential for the Country. These gatherings extended to officers, non ranked soldiers and civil servants gathering together for working lunches, the messes, meetings, training etc. The wheels behind society didn't stop, and can't. This extends to Government and technically they may have stayed within the rules.

The government previously used a defence of working lunch when pictures from drones appeared of their technically they were working!

It’s not a defence, its merely pointing out that vivid technicality could be applied, it’s not the same as saying you still have the moral authority to govern.
