I think the Echo or Athletic had mentioned that Origi's contract expires this summer BUT if he plays a certain numbers of games, we can trigger an extension.

Yeah saw that reported somewhere else. Not sure how that works in terms of if he agreed a pre contract with a foreign club, would we override that if he started number of games etc or does he technically still have 18 months on this contract in which case can’t sign anything.

Either way I don’t think we’ll stand in his way in summer but could need him rest of this season

I've got no interest in how well or otherwise Newcastle do other than since the takeover I now hope they keep buying the wrong players and that none of ours go anywhere near them.

What if they're willing to pay over the odds for one of ours?

Why not both? Saudis need to splash the cash whilst the oil doth floweth.

Nah... Not Milner. I want him to stay as a coach. His legs might not be what they were 50 years ago, but his brain is still sharp and so think he could coach the youth.

No. I hope the club don't want their tainted money. Surely some things have got to be above money but we are talking about, what's become an industry not just a sport, that sells itself out repeatedly.

If there was any they'd have been given short-shrift when they first showed an interest in buying the club.

i struggle to remember morals coming into footballs decision making in my lifetime but can think of numerous example of the lack of said moral and yes that includes our club .

Mostly I agree. However, I do think there are varying degrees of morality (or lack of it), and the Saudi regime dwarf the bad behaviour of most other miscreants. No amount of tu quoque argument can mitigate against the actions of a murderous regime who simply shouldn't be allowed to invest in our institutions.
Do we draw a line somewhere or do we just say we'll take your money, regardless of what you do?
(By "we" I refer to our authorities' and their willingness to sanction the deal).

But we as uk already do take their money. And indeed help prop up said regime.

We have to remember that first it was Iran, favouring Iraq then it was Iraq, Kuwait and saudi. Now its Saudis are bad.

Maybe the issue is really the west enabling these regimes constantly that's at issue.

I long for the day that oil dependency is broken and the desert re-covers the Emirates and other such places

I don't know how much we can do as individuals to stop governments making deals with devils but as football fans we should have a say in how ownership is managed. Voting with our feet would sort it out but that's nigh on impossible to organise on a large scale especially when you've got Geordies walking around all giddy with tea towels on their heads.
