Yep, their eponymous first album was excellent, but the hype generated over the band has always been undeserved.
Maybe it's because I have older brothers and sisters and was brought up on a musical diet of Bowie, The Beach Boys, Dylan, the Who, Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye etc. that the likes of the Stone Roses just sound like a ****e 60's cover band to me.
off topic but have you ever seen a guy do this before?
Stone Roses were great but of a time. I saw them in 1995 and that was 5 or 6 years too late ffs. Still, there's a whole generation of kids that've grown up not knowing how disappointing they are live so it's as good a time as any for a reunion
Ian Brown plays live all the time though so am sure most of them know he's piss poor. he sometimes pulls the odd good gig off mind you. I saw him at the MEN arena and he played 2 roses tracks **** Noel G was there though to save the day
The stone roses are a great band. it'd be good to see who's supporting them. i got tickets for the friday. can't wait.
