So we have confirmation now Lukaku has been left out of today's squad to face Liverpool. Both Lukaku and Tuchel have given interviews and with no apology or statement from Lukaku 4 days on it is pretty damning.

I've had time to reflect on it and nothing has changed my mind - i'd get rid tomorrow. This is not like Costa or Drogba when they would act up or be petulant - we were definitely worse off without them in the side, that is not the case with Lukaku.

I Find the whole interview thing a bit strange tbh, he's not even been there long and must have known that speaking like that in any interview will cause him and the club drama. So what for? Does he want out already?

    Totally disrespectful from him imo.

    Not that I'm complaining <whistle>

Exactly, he knows exactly what he's doing. Get him gone.

As a United fan, this is the number one problem that I have with Pogba. I was desperate for us to get rid of him two years ago, but we bottled it. Ironically, Lukaku was part of that Pogba setup and I can only imagine that having the two of them in the team was a net negative for United which we still haven’t recovered from.

In my opinion, clubs must never cater to these egomaniacs. If they can’t respect the team, get rid of them without hesitation! Props to Chelsea for dropping him today.

Yeah, agree with everyone else. Glad we dropped him and I wouldn’t put him in the next team with how well we played today. The only issue is we’ll struggle to get rid of him now so we need to find some way of solving the problem cause otherwise it’s a waste of 100m.

Really interesting post - I've yet to see a non-Chelsea fan yet that doesn't think we made the right decision by dropping him.

My first reaction was to get him out, and I haven't heard anything from him to change my mind.
Perhaps the best solution is to clear the air, and play him until seasons' end, then depending on his attitude and performance , get rid of him or if he is genuinely contrite and remorseful, give him a second chance. Looks to me as if he thinks he's the biggest thing at the Club and deserves special treatment. He needs to accept ours is a pretty harmonious Team and he is but a part like all the others. Egos are not catered for at Chelsea.

I’ve never been a Lukaku fan, as I’m sure you’re all aware, and this is yet further confirmation he should never have been bought.
He needs to be reminded he’s still won absolutely **** all as a player and was brought in after Chelsea had won the CL. He needs to shut up and start scoring more goals before talking about where he’d like to move to.

Well, it seems he will get the chance to score goals after his dressing down and apology. Best for all if he starts scoring and stops talking. We have enough problems without a stupid distraction.

Lukaku is exactly like his national team. Touted as the best but won zip.

Ego driven man never will have the class or skills of his idol Drogba. I cried when we paid 90 mil for that useless twat who has the control skills of a spastic Darren Brown.

They are worlds apart in just about every facet of the game. Realistically he won't go in January but I hope he does in the summer.

I was mystified as to why you bought him in the first place, £100m for a player who has always been a flat-track bully.

…..my dear departed Uncle described Jimmy as the finest player he’d seen in a Chelsea shirt. I used to argue with him on that, but listening to Jimmy’s interpretation of the Lukaku situation - perhaps he was right all along.

Because a flat-track bully is what we needed. So many points dropped against teams outside the big 6 because we had nobody to finish the countless amount of chances we made.
