As opposed to the usual noise that Chelsea don't need, which is usually aimed at black opposition players
After reading the quotes yesterday, my initial thought was that Lukaku's intention behind this interview was to repair the relationship with the Inter fans, who were clearly aggrieved at the circumstances of how he left the club. However, these quotes which have been publicised today are absolutely insane. Just 6 months after joining Chelsea for a club-record fee and supposedly being a 'Chelsea fan'. These quotes today certainly don't come across as someone who wants to be there. He isn't just talking about going back to Inter 'one day', he said he wants to go back in 'his prime' and that he effectively wants their best players to remain there because he'll be back soon . Not what you want to hear from a player you've forked all that money on. Also, Lukaku isn't stupid. He can speak 6 languages fluently. He's not unaware as to how this would come across, even if the interview was 3 weeks ago. Ornstein was saying that even his representatives had no idea he'd done this interview. So I'm beginning to think the intention is more sinister and perhaps he's trying to push Tuchel out? I can't think of any other tangible reason of doing an interview like this. And the timing of it being released as well - surely he'd have a say in that, too. Mental.
"Lautaro Martinez coming here with me at Chelsea in the future? No... Lautaro, you stay in Milan, I'll be back there" This line in particular hits deep. The man's even telling players to avoid Chelsea whilst also implying he ain't sticking around
Obviously nobody told Lukaku that the correct way to go about things is to bump into Gary Neville on a golf course
Players aren’t that stupid. Same as Kane in the summer, they know when these pieces are getting released and they know the effect the quotes will have.
For my earlier comment, I should have provided a link to Tuchel's press conference (a brief excerpt: "We have a horrible decision for a penalty from the referee for 2-0. It wasn’t even checked. Everything against us. We have two injuries again.") rather than Lukaku's tweet as background. I'd certainly be livid if Lukaku were playing for Spurs and he went on as he has been doing. Is he Charlie Kane's newest client?
My immediate response was to check his agent's other clients to see if he can talk somebody we need out the door I take it that nobody wants us to sign Kevin Lasagna?
So Chelsea fans don’t like him, and now Inter fans don’t either? What was the point of that interview then? It’s just pissed everyone off and made everyone hate him!
Yep, two men who want the big money but not the effort expected from them. You can't turn out on a matchday and think your name alone is enough and (in Lukaku's case) pile the pounds back on in such a short space of time.
