He has been magnificent over the last few games but how many times does his short passing from goal lead to us losing possession. Kick it into the oppositions half and lets put the pressure on where it matters.:emoticon-0100-smile

Kelvin has saved us many many points. Can anyone list any mistakes of his that have ultimately cost us points? I bet its not any more than any other player in the team.

So our crowd can get on his back when we lose the ball? And we then get a reputation for hoofball? I see what your saying but by no means does him passing short lead to us losing possession more than him punting long!

We forgive strikers that miss sitters, yet they cost points as well.

    No thank you.

It's not Adkins' way of playing, and it's not the way that I'd like to see us play. Play from the back, keep possession, and go forth and create.

Kelvin has attracted his critics (remember home to QPR when he cost us a game we were coasting?) but I have always thought he was good at Div 1 level and now he is proving a better keeper in the Championship than he was last time out. He is in great form at the moment, and the short ball stuff clearly is obeying orders. Criticise all you like. Point gained Saturday. Not the first nor will it be the last. Great servant.

Agree Davis' kicking is not great so short passing is prob better and as you correctly say I am sure he is being encouraged to do so. Finally if the central midfield goes missing then there is not a lot him and the defence can do if they are lacking an outlet.

No way am I throwing any criticism at Kelvin but we nearly gave away a penalty against Forest which would have cost us the game

Pass it out the back, retain possession. It's what good teams do.

    But it didn't.

Football is about what DOES happen, not what MIGHT of happened.

As for the kicking, no his kicking isn't the best, but it isn't the worse either. He'll never change now, personally, I'd rather have a keeper who is an excellent shot stopper and organiser of his defence than one who is crap at those two things, but kicks well.

And no, we don't want to go back to being a route one team like West Ham.

I must admit it does infuriate me when we lose the ball like that but why is it kelvins fault? it's more about the person he passes to being sloppy with their control or not being alert enough, can't think of that many passes that he misplaces. Also if he constantly hoofed the ball upfield and we lost possession through it that would be wrong too! Don't think he can win either way really! I'd take the way he's doing at the moment any day of the week because it's working more often than not,we are top of the league!

As what others have said, if you think Davis is error prone or his kicking is bad then you should see some other goalkeepers in this division. I don't think you can get much better than Kelvin Davis in this division.

Agreed, but isn't it amazing how many goalkeepers of other teams have a blinder when we play them? Schmeicel of Leicester saved them 3 points, the Derby keeper saved them a point, I could go on.

We give them a lot of practice..! ;)

Kelvin did very well against Reading. Every keeper has one of those days when they see the ball twice it's size, and they're going to save practically everything.
