That has definitely worked well for us in the past with Balogh, Diomande, Sagbo and Proschwitz proving to be astute signings from abroad.

Well if you want a proven Champ striker, you'll be paying £8m+ and we don't have that so it's a non-starter. There's so much value abroad, Proschwitz was clearly a fail but for the fees we paid Sagbo and Diomande weren't bad and Balogh was a free on peanuts. We've never had a DOF so well connected before so hopefully, we should be able to bring in better players.

Apologies if already posted…
Hull City involved in race for José Mourinho’s player – ‘Work in progress’

Hull City are reportedly one of the clubs who are interested in the signing of Roma fullback Bryan Reynolds.
information comes from Italian outlet Calcio Mercato, who claim the 20-year-old has a couple of clubs wanting his signature in the January transfer window.
The Tigers are one of them, with ‘calls from England’ arriving at Roma. It’s said the Championship side ‘need reinforcements’ to improve their campaign this season and now have this ‘work in progress’ to get Reynolds signed.
The competition for Hull City is said to come from Belgian side Club Brugge, who have made ‘concrete’ moves in recent weeks, asking for information on a potential transfer.
Calcio Mercato writes that Reynolds already had offers to leave Roma in the summer, but had his departure blocked by owner Dan Friedkin and director Tiago Pinto.
However, it turns out the player hasn’t been much used by manager José Mourinho, getting only three appearances this season so far. And with the Giallorossi looking to make a few additions in the January transfer window, it seems he could be allowed to leave this time, likely to be on a loan deal.

The rumours are Emmanuel suffered a serious medical condition that could end his career perhaps Reynolds is his replacement
All quiet on Emmanuel.
Apparently only in hospital overnight when the incident occurred.
Surprised nothing has been said or leaked to date.

The issue is that we’re competing with a pretty decent Belgian team for him, it’s not very likely he will choose us over them unless the new owners pull some magic out the hat.

If true, its awesome from an intent and ambition point of view....and he would probably do excellent at this level...

But the negative, does it have the chance of upsetting the dressing room (wages mainly)?

I’d rather spend that money on signing Baxter, Bernard, Longman on permanents. I personally don’t think January is the time to be signing players like that, we need to ensure Championship safety and then build on that in the summer.

I agree, BUT I also see the merit in a signing of intent to get a higher calibre of player interested in the summer. Would hope if we have that sort of money to throw at a single player, there'd be money available to also sign those players to permanents.

I think if we have that sort of budget then of the three you’ve mentioned I’d only sign Baxter. We could sign better than Longman
