It was actually at Anfield, and we (Norwich) almost did the same to you.

Look, just because your seat on the throne as best team in north london is under threat from the yids, there's no reason to be making wild claims such as this.

Yeah I forgot you could only aspire to something which happened months ago rather than something in the present. <doh>

You aspire to an end goal, or an achievement. So what is there for Utd to aspire to? The ability to beat another team in the PL by five goals?

City have given us a level to aim for, but nothing to aspire to as yet.

I see Roy Keane on the BBC website said that the Manc derby was not so much about the 3 points at stake, but about "shutting some people up". Will you all join with me in prayer - let it include him first.

You can aspire to anything that's better than you - aiming towards a level is part of aspiration. The end goal would be to have a squad as good as theirs and one which is sat atop the Premiership with a five point buffer. I hate the ****ers with a passion for the crass way they've gone about in helping to ruin our sport, but their team's going to be the dominant one in Manchester (and then England, Europe and the world) for years to come if they keep hold of their owners. :(

Interesting assessment, if they keep hold of their owners. I wonder what however part the new UEFA financial Fair rules may play?

I still wouldn't call that an aspiration - being five points clear in the PL at one point in the season counts for nothing, it's what happens come the end of the season that matters. But maybe I'm just being pedantic ;)

It'll be interesting to see what happens once they win the PL (if not this year then 99% they'll win at least one of the next three). Will the owners keep throwing the cash at them, or will they do an Abramovich and try to run the club sustainably, only putting money in when performance levels have fallen unacceptably low. If they keep up the scorched earth big spending approach they are currently pursuing (FFP permitting of course) then they will dominate, but if they go for greater sustainability they may find it as hard to stay at the top as Chelsea have done...

  15. You may well "push on" with better performances than the 1-6 tonking you took from your fiercest rivals, City, but that's hardly the point is it? Again, you are burying your head in the sand (see my comments in a previous thread). I don't think you are in decline, but I do see the Arabs having ear-marked you out for complete and utter humiliation. Did they try to buy you and get spurned by your Yanky task-masters? It's as though the Arab money has been piled into City with complete abandon and with no motive other than to bury you (along with 'Pool) into the sand-pit of history.

    Be honest.

You know very well that you are never going to catch City - not this season, and not for many seasons to come.

How does that make you feel?

  16. I saw that interview.

What I loved about it is that, at the end, he gave it the hard-man act by saying that "talk is cheap" and that if City can't "do it" they had better shut up.

Well, the only one who had better shut up is you, Roy. You clearly don't have a clue what you are talking about, mate <ok>

Your punditry skills are about as sharp as your managerial skills. Best take up something that you might be good at, such as reading gas meters, or collecting debts.

It looks like Chelsea appointed a lot of idiots to run their academy and managed to screw up the careers of dozens of young players they poached in the process. I don't think that's how it's going to be at Eastlands. Look at Man City's new academy plans and the recently introduced youth setup ruling from the FA - or even closer to home for me, just think about how there are MCFC training camps opening up around Leeds and how you can see blue-clad kids directed by Man City operatives playing on astro-turf pitches all over the city. I bet that's happening all over the North, if not the country. When you see all that, you wonder how dominant they'll be now they've bought the future too.

Even if the investment and enthusiasm from their owners does fade slightly, you get the feeling that they'll be well-equipped to stay on top anyway. They're not buying aging and unsuitable players like Chelsea made the mistake of doing either (thereby creating distrust between owner and manager); they seem to be buying the right players for the most part, and managing their problematic players effectively.

And I don't like any of it one bit. It's totally unscrupulous.

You got caned, don't happen very often. especially at home; with the players that City have, especially when they are in that mood and click, well they will beat anyone, doesn't make Utd a bad side over night, but it does show what a good side City are, if they can add some consistency to their undoubted talent, well watch out, Utd have ground out results in the past to win when not playing that well, thats what wins titles.............City have yet to show that quality <ok>

    You are right pal.

Something people need to remember aswell is United are more than capable of dishing similar treatment out on other clubs, City included. Today we werent in the mood and city were. Another day, another derby and it will be us in the mood and city just wont turn up. Thats football.
