I can see Sunderland having plenty of attacks down our left, Aluko has been completely awol from his position so far, it's like he's playing the #10 behind the two strikers. Penney doesn't have too much help in front of him.
Is Evans playing left mid? I've seen him out there way more than Aluko, who does seem to be quite central.
Don't care what anyway says, Penney is our best option at LB at the moment, the only one to play there that has consistently added to the attack on a regular basis.
So finally somebody has realised that Sone won't stay wide and decides to use him centrally, I've said it so often this season that he was detrimental to our shape out wide.
A long break in play due to an injury, hope it doesn't kill our momentum. We have been lively, just need a goal.
That was a cracking half of football. Pleased that McGreal has gone with the three man defence and picked the best three for the job. Woolfenden with the central role and Donacien and Edmundson outside backs that can get forwards and join the attack. Midfield has been a bit muddled. Evans, Morsy, Norwood and Bonne all seem to be taking turns giving Penney some protection on the left as we don't have somebody out there the same as we do with Burns on the right. Aluko is playing centrally and has been very involved in the build up play. Burns has been tearing it up on the wing, Janoi backing him up. Norwood and Bonne look like a natural partnership up front. Both in the faces of the defenders and looking to bring each other into the game. So far, so good. We've been bright with the ball, aggressive in the closing down and have put tackles in. The passes have been forward and the movement is causing problems for Sunderland. My last word for the half time summary.....Penney has been excellent!
Would like more movement thru the midfield. But, a much better energy, commitment and team-work. If I was young KM new manager in a box or stands I would be rubbing my hands with glee. Generally, this formation suits us, and Bonne loves Nogood up with him!
