CCTV and ANPR was used to identify lockdown breakers, so yes, it is big brother. They were never installed for that purpose.

Agreed they shouldn't be used for that.

I guess it comes down to the motives for the technology's use, rather than the actual tech itself.

There's not much point in protesting if it doesn't affect anyone.

This is of course the reason behind protest, to disrupt the status quo

Because the Status quo doesn't listen, so people have to take to the streets to get noticed.

Tech is always going to be misused, for whatever purpose it was orignally installed, you can pretty much guess at a later date, it will be used for a difference purpose than it was initially installed.

That's why we need transparency and accountability.

I don't think you can not use the tech on the premise that it will be misused though.

Trouble is, the agencies that use surveillance will always argue that they need secrecy in order to be effective.

The measures will probably go through anyway, because the Labour MP's will be told to support it, so it all seems pointless.

I haven't got a problem with CCTV tbh. But then I've got nothing to hide.

Reckon any of the Tory rebels will be swayed by Chris Whitty's announcement that Omicron will cause a 'significant increase' in hospitalisation ?

Suppose it doesn't matter in the end, given that Labour will back the measures.

It don't matter, the Labour support will be enough to push the measures through.

Yeah that's what I just said. Wonder how damaging it will be to Boris though if 40+ of his own MPs vote against him ?

Labour will support this motion, but relying on the opposition to get your motions through the house is shaky ground.

It's more being used to measure the damage caused by Boris. Because the more Tory MP's that vote against him, it indicates how that support is. I wish Labour would fook it off, but they won't which is a shame.

I thought you were a Boris supporter though. Surely Labour ****ing it off leaves him dead in the water ?

Mandatory mask wearing. There's a difference.

I will wear a mask when shopping etc anyway but I don't like to be ordered to do so and threatened with fines if I refuse or forget.

Basically ask for compliance don't demand it.

The measure is probably aimed at those who were going to refuse then

I've never said I'm a Boris supporter, that's assumptions other people make because I voted Tory. I might not slag him off, but I don't believe in conceding to other people's political views or agendas.

I'm always pretty open on here about my reasons for everything, and quite simply I don't want to see any possibility of a plan C, so Boris needs a warning shot across him.

Boris was the only one as I saw it to get me Brexit, and how he went about doing that, I didn't care. Yes, you read that right, I didn't care, such is politics, sometimes you have to be a shhite.

Would I do the same again, yup 100% without any doubt, I don't change my mind just because other people don't like or trust someone, I make my own judgement calls.

How will I vote at the next General Election, no idea.

Sorry, slightly amended my original post.

It is aimed at those people yes. Who is going to enforce it though? The supermarkets have already said they refuse to ask shoppers to mask up.

Most people would wear the mask if explanation of the issues were clear and those putting the message out were trustworthy.

You'll always get ****ers and guess what? They won't wear the mask if it's mandatory either. You'll still see them everywhere.
