Surely he has got himself a call up now, considering capello has said fringe players will get run outs in the up coming friendlies! Surely he's ahead of the likes of stockdale etc.
I would think so too. He has pulled rabbits in some games this season Looking every inch a top flight keeper and I am happy say I was a doubter in the summer but no more.
As a former GK I have to tell you, in fact many of you will remember, that I have never ever doubted that he would come good! May I also wish him many happy returns on his 25th birthday tomorrow!
Never doubted him either, but to be honest I'd rather we had him all to ourselves than England playing him!
I think he could do both, keepers don t need a rest between games as they hardly cover any distance, probably why Dave played there? Lazy bugger that he is
Although Rudd is a decent back up, he's still quite inexperienced. I reckon Dave could do a job you know.... Lambert, sign him up!
That's 4 points he has saved us already this year i make it. Ngog Vs Bolton last minute, stoke penalty and then yesterday Vs liverpool
I was right behind the goal on saturday and that save was phenomenal. Reminded me of a similar point blank one Greeno made in the last minute against Stoke that won him his call up.
still only 25... today i believe! happy birthday big man. great future lies ahead and yet another bargain signing by lambert at £300k for a keeper who HAS to be in the next england squad. if he isn't, then its a joke, and not a very good one! personally, i feel he is the 2nd best english keeper around at the moment, and i'm including the likes of robinson and foster who have retired
Ruddy lets 1 in a game so as long as we score 1 or 2 we will draw or win most games.............. Last clean sheet was against Porstmouth i think?
http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/9621685.stm Ruddy is in Garth's team of the week! http://soccernet.espn.go.com/columns/story/_/id/974026/team-of-the-week:-october-23,-2011?cc=5739 Soccernet's too!
the clean sheets aren't ruddy's fault to be fair - he hasn't had a prayer with any of the goals. also, three of the goals he's conceded have been penalties! what i've always liked about him is that when he makes a mistake he seems to forget about it. keepers make mistakes - every keeper does - but its how you deal with them that determine how good you are. he had lots of fans on his back early last season because he was punished for every mistake he made - for me, he has made no more mistakes than forster did and his kicking is far superior too. we were all slightly panicked when forster left but for me, ruddy is the much better keeper and a fraction of the price
I love Ruddy but i am aware that he will concede 1 during the game, Lambert and the boys don t seem phased either...... Its normal for us to come back from a goal down since Lamberts arrival, this is a fantastic habit ..... No fear and we never stop running and playing our game, some of the quick one touch passing on display was like a Brazil side from the 70s..... Again the 11 were perfectly balanced
bizarrely, i felt (wba game excepted and maybe wigan - we were very nervous that day) it was probably our poorest performance on saturday, which makes the result even better, especially when you combine this with the fact liverpool played very well! we were slow to close down, our passing was iffy and we rode our luck at times in but we could conceivably have won it second half - all the signs are good and all point to a successful season for us. ruddy is certainly one of the main reasons for this. on a side note, my hatred for that dirty cheating little beggar luis suarez now knows no bounds! a frankly absurd performance from a player with bundles of talent. he is probably the most obnoxious player i've ever seen play the game, and i've seen a few bad eggs! a downright cheat.
Second week running with someone in team of the week Ruddy is second highest in the prem for saves to shots ratio to Tim kruhl. Top performance John
