I've always seen Preston as a pretty decent Championship side, I saw them on the box the other day against Fulham where they drew 1-1.

Maybe they need to stick in a recall, and tell the lad this is your big chance to step up. He's 24 now, so he either takes his chance or forever remains a lower league goalie.

Funnily enough Kaspar was just as flappy for a large part of our 2014/15 season and Mark Schwarzer came in for a few and steadied the ship ... Kaspar cane back in and was then superb for the remainder and also the next when we won the title ... but the main problem at the moment is certainly playing the zonal ****e ... Luke Thomas was continually left marking Mings because of it ... think there is close to a foot difference in height ... guess who wins? <doh>

Sort of agree although 24 is still young for a keeper ... certainly think he'll be in first team contention next season when I think we'll say goodbye to Jakupovic and possibly Ward ... who has been attracting interest since the Euros ...

I looked at Rodgers stats earlier, they certainly didn't make impressive reading in the last seven league games. As for his managerial career, what has he actually achieved if you take Celtic out of the equation. He's use to handling Championship sides such as Swansea, which is about Celtic's level. I reckon he's probably a bit of a control freak, lot of hot air but nothing in the cabinet.

Yeah, i was probably being a bit harsh on the lad with that comment. I've always seen Preston as a consistent well established Championship side, so if he can get the applaudits there it's a good sign.

My lot have got a Chelsea keeper on loan this season, very good for our level, shame he's playing for a shhite team, not sure what he's achieving by being with my lot.

...hmmm... he won us the FA Cup for the first time in our history ... after 4 losing post-war finals ... for many Leicester fans that was the Holy Grail coz we never really dreamt that the title was a possibility ...

My own view? ... Martin O'Neil was better coz he never had the funding available that Brenda has had ... and Ranieri was a God ... he worked miracles ... but Brenda is OK... and in terms of the 'big picture' he's still steering the ship in the right direction... if rather erratically, at times

Game time in a physical league where attackers are going to show him no mercy.

Yeah true, he looks pretty decent, and imho good goalkeepers are few and far between. I think the last time I saw anyone of his level at my place, was when Gazziniga was here.

It's much better experience than playing 'academy / reserves' ... Harvey Barnes had a great time at West Brom in the Championship a couple of years back, as did Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall at Luton last season ... arguably our best 2 performers today despite the loss ... brings the young'un on without doubt ...

Fair play. Jury is out with me on Brenda, he took over a well managed side, I hate to say this to you, but he's starting to remind me of another Peter Taylor. <laugh>

Peter Taylor would not have won us an FA Cup mate... we'd have gone out to your lot in round 3 ... he bought Ade Akinbiyi for a club record transfer fee ffs... still brings me out in hives and makes me shiver uncontrollably <laugh>

Looks like my lot are heading in the right direction for L2 and goodbye to the leagues longest current tenant in L1....and I fooking hate L2, rather be in the NL, although that wish might come true as well at this rate.

Tonight could be a turning point for Rafa.

the old vote of confidence, DOF gone, up against Arteta(old evertonian)

maybe I will be using my ST this season…

What a guy.

Had a spell where he got in the side here due to injuries to Lloris and Vorm and he was unreal, won like 3 MOTMs in 5 games and his form earned him an Argentina call up where he made his debut. Had a second spell in the side where he didn’t perform as well but wasn’t terrible, though then when Lloris turned you realised the quality difference but many of us liked Gazza. Was very good with the ball at his feet too, would’ve preferred keeping him at the club as Lloris’s backup.

Looks like he’s lost the number one spot at Fulham in recent weeks, hopefully he can regain it.

One advantage Gazza has as a keeper is he was a striker before becoming a goalkeeper, well that was my understanding when he came to the UK to play for my lot, and you could see it in him with his control of the ball on the ground. He was a fans favourite at our place too, however, the top tier is less forgiveful than a bunch of L1 fans, and the quality at the top was always going to be more challenging for him, so second keeper at the big clubs, was always going to be a fair outcome. I agree he could get his place back at Fulham, as always he just has to be patient.

We need a result tonight after a couple of crap performances. Want to see Martinelli start ahead of auba, as he has been crap.

If we play Martinelli through the middle he could tear your CBs a new one if we can keep feeding him the ball
