AD got us promotion to Div 1, but no one offered him a second chance to do it, working on your logic that would suggest he just got lucky with us .
Yes but he did do it and very different times.............don't forget we then freefell through every division and nearly went bust.....like I said, very different times.
OK, so with your logic....why haven't SC been offered anything since at championship level? Bad luck??

I think he was right person, right place, right time. Sometimes it just works like that. He’s never replicated what he did for us in L1 either. So how come he managed it with us ?

Well he's managing there now, just not with the budget he had with us.....but he's doing ok at Shrewsbury....good luck to him

That’s just speculation and doesn’t explain how he managed it with us
Speculation enough for other championship teams not taking him on........
He managed it with us, by having a decent budget in league 1 and being fortunate that the players we had, sung from the same hymn sheet...gelled..Sometimes that is a bit of luck....it happens

SC who won us L1 with approaching 100 points and the Mickey Mouse cup the same year is only L1 level. On the other hand LJ has never won anything as a manager at any level what level does that make him ?

LJ was given 4years and multi £million , yet SC who won us L1 along with said Mickey Mouse cup was given months and hardly no money. And you say it’s speculation that there was a fallout between SC & SL . Really?

LJ proved that he could maintain a decent championship level, 4 years on the bounce...and the club was in profit taking transfers into account....SC was taking us back down to League 1......
But this has been said before..........a billion times.....................I thought this thread was about SC......funny how LJ is brought into it again!!

It's like Warnock, brilliant at Championship level, but could never do it higher.
SC had a great season with us..............................that's it.......that was and is his level

Your logic is odd, if he’s championship level , and yet SC is L1 level surely he’d be able to get a big club out of L1 easily, and yet … how come someone who managed to win L1 at a canter is lower in your eyes than someone who’s never won anything and can’t manage to win promotion with a very large club in L1?

Because he took over a manager that was taking us back down to league 1......saved us from relegation and kept us at a decent level in the championship...
No other club since his days with us has believed that SC can manage at this level, otherwise they would have taken him on.....Not odd logic at all.....it is what it is.. those are the facts!!

Birmingham City, sacked after 5 months to poor run plus boardroom politics. Which even Rednap failed at prior to him and most since at that club. And didn’t he have that neck operation after them so kept him out the game for a while.

Facts , both have had the opportunity and backing at L1, SC succeeded winning it reaching nearly 100 points, whilst winning Mickey Mouse cup also, to date LJ has failed . Championship LJ had opportunity and backing , again failed, didn’t even reach playoffs. SC hasn’t had backing or opportunity , so speculation as to whether he’d have succeeded given the chance. Those are the facts!!

I think it is relevant as you are only guessing if given the finances we would have been successful...No other club was willing to give him that chance either.
Scatter gun with pellets doesn't work I agree, nor does taking away the heavy artillery that we had...

Well it is a fact, but that fact has nothing to do with football and everything to do with unrelated issues, issues that our owner did not want in the public domain, hence the high risk Russian roulette approach tactic to remove him.

As for the last sentence 2 wrongs also don't make a right. The scatter gun approach was nonsense, replacing the 'heavy artillery' with loads of small inferior misfiring artillery was never going to work and the owner is 100% responsible for allowing that approach, football decisions should only be made by the manager and financial decisions made by the CEO FULL STOP, if the manager wants to leave recruitment to a DOF then that DOF should be a person of his choosing whom he fully trusts and not an ambitious man in a nice suit who was allowed to assume that roll and wield so much power within the club, power that also allowed him to put in place a dodgy backroom rehab staff.

It would also appear that his successor was also somebody that originally nobody wanted until a desperate club with (at the time) no money took that chance, football is a small world and there are no secrets and those non secrets are what kept both of them both out of work for quite a while, when both should have walked into new jobs.

Allowing Ashton to do consultancy work for his later to be new employees in their search for new owners was absolutely outrageous and just about sums up the amateurish way our club operates.

The same could be said for his replacement.

I can’t give enough likes for this post, my thoughts exactly, well put.

I don't disagree with most of that if I'm honest..
I'm not sure we will ever know the reason behind SC's sacking other than the threat of relegation at the time or if it's true that he wasn't allowed money to spend on players and if so why....But what ever facts we've not been told the fact remains that he was stubborn with his team setups and wouldn't change his formation of 3.5.2. Maybe he could have made it work with the right players.....but that's just pure speculation......he wouldn't try anything else and the negative results ended him getting the sack.....apart from a few months at Birmingham and for one that had been in management a fair few years, no other club in the Championship has been willing to give him a chance....fact.
I see the same stubbornness appearing from our current manager, whom also seems to be set in his ways, he's starting to show IMHO that he doesn't want or have the ability to change things to get the best from the players he has to pick from......but hey, fingers crossed, I could be wrong and we will go on a run and steer away from what got SC the sack back in 2016..
