Would it be better for the team to have 2 reviews and the team captain can decide if they want something reviewed? If it is not deemed clear to overturn they lose the review. (that would stop Man Utd for example surrounding the ref every 5 mins signalling VAR).

I was wondering when Newcastle would be booked for time wasting, because each kick or throw in was taking 30 seconds before they did it. Don't think they ever were, but with one side trying to get things started and the other intent on slowing it down I wonder how much the ball was in play that half compared with others.

It works in cricket, so why not.
Also have a neutral time keeper as they do in rugby. Stop the clock when incidents are being looked at

It's also used in American football where there are 3 appeals available for each team. If an appeal is upheld then it isn't lost (ie. If it's the first appeal then 3 still remain). It's a longer game though, so 2 appeals would probably be enough in football here). That would also suit having an independent time keeper, say the 4th official, so game time isn't lost to VAR.

Alternatively, scrap VAR. Then we don't lose any time to it.

(I know it's not going to happen, but I can at least dream.)

That's not a natural position; if it was, any player could always claim their arm was in a natural position, for them, as long as they didn't swat the ball. If you disagree, then the only way to settle the debate is for the PL to come out and explain the decision. Which they won't do.

Amazon Prime had ex-referee Mark Clattenburg commenting on decisions made during the match. I don't recall him being asked for his opinion on this particular incident. Can anyone remember him being asked about it?

Is Clattenburg an ex-referee already? My God, time flies.

Newcastle are targeting four England players in January, namely Manchester United midfielder Jesse Lingard, 28, Tottenham midfielder Harry Winks, 25, Chelsea midfielder Ross Barkley, 27, and Atletico Madrid full-back Kieran Trippier, 31.

Jesse will be a good signing, wasted at Man U. I do get a feeling Newcastle will end up surviving relegation.

At least if they go for Kieran Trippier they're unlikely to come after Aarons. Signing proven PL players is sensible, considering the money they have now. Those would be survival signings rather than building for the future.
