I'm a bit puzzled by this extension because this player has been the subject of a lot of negative press and I fail to see his potential. NP has seen something in him that makes this minor contract extension to be good business so let's hope he will come good for us.

he seems to be a marmite ... bad press often due to lack of actually seeing more of what happens in the remaining 166 hours!

To be fair he's got better over the last few games, he tends to stand off from the opposition far too much and isn't aggressive enough and it seems like he puts no effort in what so ever that's one of the most frustrating things about him.

To extend his contract isn’t going to cost much, he’s relatively young, and we need bodies, providing his attitude is positive why not. I’m sure Nige wouldn’t agree to it if he didn’t think he was fully committed, not much to lose really.

Definitely worth retaining IMO so long as he works hard behind the scenes.....Improvement on his distribution is a must, which lets him down....

He has ability, his problem seems to be application and consistency, I feel there’s potentially a really good player somewhere in there that just needs unlocking. Giving him another year to prove himself, especially in this climate is probably best for both us and him.

Bambi on ice -not good enough and certainly not worth a extra extension.
rubbish in the tackle and can hardly jump for a guy of his size he should be winning as many headers as Flint did.

Bakinson does my head in but I think NP sees it the same way as Ashton.

He clearly does-I certainly think he is overrated myself.
