The largest hoard of Anglo-Saxon gold coins to be found in England has been declared treasure at an inquest.

Lots of interesting information on that article. Notice a bent copper also got busted. I send photos and descriptions of everything I find to the farmer, not interested in cheating him out of any cash. Not that I ever find anything that valuable. Let's not talk about club digs which I used to go to...

I discovered a spunk stained copy of Playboy in a bush once.
I've found a few, also a VHS tape which was one of those foreign language (Dutch) films about a woman who called upon the services of a plumber, then got burgled, then had two burly cops come round. Then weeks later I found another VHS tape close to where I'd found the first so rushed home to play it. ****ing Dances With Wolves.

Good movie, that. Bit long though.

Is that because they aren't precious metals even though the findings are a lot older than most?
They are bronze so scrap value is small, maybe £50 if that.
They are not particularly rare, plenty of people, not me, have found one.
The picture shows a sample of the 65 items, about a third of which are intact so can only assume about a third of the haul is, making 20-25 intact.
Individually, intact, they would sell for about £100 each on ebay.
The value will be decided by the coroner and some museum experts, they are not known for being over generous in their valuations.

Coroner like Quincy?

If it's low value financially and historically, why is it called 'treasure'?
