And you come across as someone who forms an opinion of someone and then sticks to it regardless of what's being discussed. I can't be the only one sick of him having a go at our supporters at every opportunity.
 
So moderators, are we in a position to upgrade the title of this thread to New owners maybe?
There are that many new pages on this thread, it maybe useful for the title to sum up any progression, ie possibly. maybe, probably, almost definitely, white smoke etc.

Your first sentence regarding buying wares brings back an anecdote of a visit to Egypt back in 1985. Prior to the visit my husband had been on an advanced course with ICI Aus. called 'Negotiation Skills'.

In Cairo we were taken by our private tour guide to a shop looking to buy some jewelry for myself. I was interested in 3 items and my husband began the process of negotiating for only 1, then 2, and finally the whole 3. He negotiated in $Aus dollars and the whole process took about 45 minutes, with me and the guide removed from the proceedings but noticed much hand wringing and gesturing from the shopkeeper.Finally my husband called me over to pay the bill.( he rarely carries money/credit cards when he is with me).
Back in the car he enthused about how much he had saved on the deal but that night in the hotel he had a look at the credit card slip and found the transaction done in $US! Taking the exchange rate into account he had saved nothing - as per usual he blamed me. I blamed his negotiating skills!

Also having been to mainland China and Hong Kong (several times) I agree with your comments on buying from the Chinese.

With regard to India it demonstrates the difficulty, maybe impossibility, of ruling a country with almost the same population as China, as a democracy.
