So let's string up jones and Elliott for daring to develop as players. Let's ignore sick notes like milner, kiera and thiago who ought to be there playing.
I was saying, again cos you dont want to listen, that hes no loss for arsenal game as we have currently 3 first choice players to play the game. I'm glad to see you are in the camp of stringing up the young players though.
I was protecting him; pointing out he would be loss because he's part of the squad As Biscan said, should we're just go into every game with just the starting XI then? **** having subs
As I said it was fine for 50 or 60 years of football. In one season I believe lfc used 14 players only, won the league and reached a European final Again Jones not being fit for arsenal would,d be no loss given the scenario I provided, why you feel the need to defend anyone I don't know
We actually only used 13 in one season. However **** changes. So, the three you picked, what happens when one lumps off?
Klopp will decide. And then the "context" which I've only mentioned 6 times changes. So again in the context of having henderson fabinho and thiago available for the arsenal game then jones is no great loss. No.matter what pulling apart you try you are consistently ignoring the context in order to try make your points. None of which are in any way relevant to the comment in question lol. Squad game. Nope. Irrelevant. 4 fit cms currently so for the next game if Jones is not fit hes no great loss. What if one gets injured. Nope, that changes the context in which the comment was made. So it's also irrelevant. Klopp has right now 4 players hit to go. 3 are clearly first picks.
I agree with you - I copied the guys comments but without the quotes but you're right. Teams are walking through us.
This is the thing - I was ok with letting Gini as long as we had a proper replacement for him in mind. On paper, Naby and Thiago both can do a better job than Gini but are unreliable physically. But we should not pretend that Gini was the difference maker. He was a good cog in the overall wheel, and that's what made us so strong for a couple of wheels - our whole team structure was on point. Since then, we've just had too much disruption to our starting team. Last year, it was the defence which then filtered to the midfield. And this year, it's the midfield. We need to find some level of consistency with our best players .
This is quite concerning - the below charts show the pressing maps for the first 15 matches of the last 4 seasons. Whilst our volume is higher, the number of FAILED presses is staggering - it's 108 more than next worst season. We've always had lots of fails across the edge of the opposition third but this season now also huge issues inside our own half, especially in the right halfspace please log in to view this image
Here is the breakdown by player (sorted by most failed at the top). Attackers will usually have a high volume of failed because they are pressing high up the pitch where the opposition will have more players in that area to bypass the press. But as you can see, Henderson is really struggling at the moment. Whether it's down to the new role or if it's natural regression, I dont know. But that right midfield side is not good. Especially when you look at Elliot who was pressing like a demon. Fabinho and Firmino are also concerns - they're such important pressers in terms of volume but the efficiency is really down. please log in to view this image
Efficiencies of our defensive players: This Season: 63% Milner 64% Matip 73% Robbo 74% Hendo 76% Tsimikas 77% Trent 79% Fab Title winning season 77% Milner 78% Trent 81% Robbo 83% Hendo 87% Fab 89% Gomez 90% Matip This is not good enough ...
Compared to the ac milan game henderson has been nowhere lately. Hes been covering fabinho as well. It's all well and good talk pressing high up but if they dont get back in then its wide open at the back anyway. Once that press is beaten they need to work for field position behind the ball and trent and henderson are just not doing it. Even fabinho failed v west ham but making a hospital ball then running at the next guy who collects the breakdown and leaving a 2v2 then.
This is not good. Klopp isn't doing Hendo any favours by continuing to play him in this advanced role. I think the simplest tactical change to make now is to simply let Hendo sit deeper and hold position.
Matip's pressing efficiency is also significantly lower compared to 19/20. Again, is it because of the open space in front of them that is causing this? It's a chain reaction as you say - once one player messes up and is beaten, the whole system is compromised.
