Just looked at a few posts on here from well respected forum members that worry me. We all look at things differently and I've no problem with alternative points of view, but..............

There is no way we should even contemplate the notion that dropping a division to get the club on the right path would be acceptable. Nobody is too good to go down but staying in the Championship must be the absolute priority - even at the expense of some more grinding performances that often makes your guts churn watching it.

Believing that going down to League One will sort out the problems we've experienced this past 6/7 years is fraught with danger. Our current woes have been generated internally and can only be solved the same way - not by dropping a division.

It needs acceptance that the policies of those at the helm of this club have steered the ship onto the rocks. Only at this club do knee jerk reactions take so much time. This current manager change is a prime example of waffle.

It should be admitted and resolved with a change of direction at the top - though that would be like turkeys voting for Christmas. It's been said since Slade was appointed. Short term fixes solve nothing long term, but there's enough ability at this club to put two other teams below us and down along with Derby.

Hey Sparky. Don't disagree with what you are saying in general. Clearly we all WANT to stay up and I certainly don't see relegation as being conducive to sorting out the issues we have.

I guess what I was trying to say in a cackhanded way was that I also don't see relegation as the massive disaster it's always made out to be, no matter what division it may be from.
Short to medium term pain would absolutely ensue but longer term we could come out if it in a stronger state, having more of an identity and a sounder base to build from.

Of course, this being football and unlike any other business, we could equally as soon end up going to the wall completely....

I recall reading a column from Karen Brady about West Ham's struggles to stay in the Premier League one season... You'd swear to god, the way she talked about going down to the Championship you'd think administration was almost a favourable option.
From memory she described it as a graveyard....

I know I'm a bit old fashioned, but if only clubs spent less chasing the unimaginable wealth of the promised land or trying to retain their seat at the pigs trough, the game would be in a much healthier state all round.

I see no positive side whatsoever in getting relegated. Reduces Tan's investment value, smaller crowds, vast empty spaces in the ground, lower income, lower football standard, less attractive to incoming players, more sh1tty grounds to visit.

Where's the positive in all of that?

As an aside, Gerrard gone to Villa. Not seen a mention of Beale yet.

I would have thought Villa would have wanted to sign the package. Many see Beale as the strength behind Gerrard.
If Beale doesnt join him Villa mightn't have bought what they thought.

The Jacks appear to think their guy is a possibility.

Will be interesting to see how it plays out.

Could even end up being a swap with Smith going in the opposite direction :emoticon-0140-rofl:

Looks like he may still join Gerrard at Villa unless he fancies a stab as No,1 with us.

Ex Ger Von Bronkhorst from Feyenoord is now a serious contender for Rangers rather than the untried (as manager) Beale.

Not yet 100% certain. The headline is misleading. The article itself says "expected to".

However, I would be happy if it is correct. He seems to have the players' backing and that his half the battle. He promotes a more progressive style of football and won't be afraid to use the youngsters who he knows so well.

The downside is lack of contacts to bring in the players needed to strengthen the squad, at low cost. Perhaps the board will spring a DoF on us. Not holding my breath on that.

One other positive, in an odd way, it won't cost much to get rid of him should it go nipples skyward. I very much hope that option doesn't happen.

Funnily enough, Skybet's book on next Cardiff manager is still open - Morison has gone to 1/10 for the job.

Anyone fancy sticking 100 grand on to make £10K?

I wonder what his brief will be regarding expiring contracts?
If theres anyone we want to keep that needs sorting now.
By the time a new manager arrives, or Morison gets extended, they could be gone. Can't they sign pre-contract agreements from January.
Not sure (m)any would be wanted that badly, though morrison would attract attention.

Don't you fancy a cheeky punt on one of the others if their odds have lengthened enough.

My only fear is that if it doesn't work this time round for Morison, we'll lose him altogether. Hopefully there's sopme sort of agreement that he can go back to where he was if he chooses.
