I'd made a mental note to watch that one, any good?

I want to see a new film of his called Pig where he plays a recluse who gets his truffle pig stolen.

I've just been to see that one - wasn't what I expected, to be honest I thought something had gone a trifle wrong with the plot

I cannot watch a film with Cage in it. Can't stand the pretentious, melodramatic prick, same as that James Woods arsehole.

Tell a lie, I watched Windtalkers as I'm a big fan of war films.
It was shìt though.

I think I know what to expect more or less, more of an introspective character piece than a thriller?

Trailer for that looks intriguing. Finally got around to watching The Lighthouse last night. Quite enjoyed it.

I loved The Lighthouse but it's a strange beast isn't it <laugh>

Cage is similarly strange, he's either really good or really bad and there's nothing in between. Probably because he takes a load of crap/bizarre stuff on for the pay which is fair enough. He can do serious and subtle roles when he wants to and he's supposed to be brilliant in Pig.

If anything, I wanted The Lighthouse to get a bit more tense before he killed him. Still enjoyed it though. I like anything weird like that.
Don't mind Nicholas Cage. Will try and get to see Pig at some point. I like the premise.

This is a fun and weird film, have you seen it?

The trailer doesn't quite sell it, it only hints at the darkness of the comedy. I don't normally watch stuff with subtitles because I can't take my eyes off them but I remembered this one because we're probably watching Parasite tonight.

I've not seen it but that looks good. Don't really mind stuff with subtitles. One of my favourite films is Delicatessen, have you seen that? Its French. That Walter Presents on Ch 4 has a few good subtitled series on it. There's a weird Norwegian comedy about a policeman and a Czech one about a race of people who can breathe underwater

I often think the Walter stuff looks good and research confirms it but I hardly watch anything with subtitles I just can't get on with them apart from once in a blue moon. I find myself glued to them and miss half of what's going on.

Better than English dubbing mind that's unwatchable to me.

Dubbed stuff is awful. You spend more time watching their mouths move than anything else. I know what you mean about subtitles, sometimes I feel like I've read a film more than watched it and you have to really concentrate. All interruptions have to be eliminated.

I wonder if you could use some of that deep fake tech to make the mouth movements match up perfectly with the dubbing.

Alternatively just learn every language fluently and switch off the subs <laugh>

I'm the same with subtitles, I just can't get on with them either despite being a quick reader, but for that reason alone I actually prefer dubbed films/TV. The dubbing is usually ****e, but at least I'm watching the video rather than concentrating on reading the text.

It looks like I was onto something with my guess about deep fake tech being able to help with dubbing, the tech in this video looks like the way forward. Looks like it would allow nigh on flawless lip syncing in any language:
