To be clear, you were aware Starmer didn't take a consultancy contract. You weren't aware he wanted to, tried to and was stopped mid negotiations due to the Tories pointing out a conflict. You're jumping ahead. The police haven't agreed to look at anything, and you've got half the government facing charges. Wishful thinking, particularly as there's an obvious defence on Covid due to the urgency of the situation, and the peersge issue was first raised by the SundayTimes only yesterday.
You’d have thought if the Tory’s knew about conflict of interest they wouldn’t do it themselves.., but no. Strange that.
Sadly the rules on second jobs and greed has made a few blind to the rules. Just as members on both sides of the house fell foul of the Expenses Scandal
Remember when Patel was found to have broken the ministerial code. Yeah that was good to see consequences for her actions. Oh and the unauthorised meetings … but, but Labour
Wonder if we’ll ever get a full report on the contracts given over the last couple of years… you seriously have had to have had waaaay to many disco biscuits to think things were above board there. I’m so glad to get away from this EU corruption… British corruption best in the world.
Bit hypocritical of them ‘exposing’ Starmer for potentially doing something they considered as wrong yet defending one of their own who actually was.
Collective narcissism rampant! https://www.theatlantic.com/family/archive/2021/11/group-narcissism/620632/
All very tit for tat tonight ladies and gents. It basically boils down, as per usual, to whats right and wrong, values and morals. That Webbe woman deserves everything she gets relative to what she has done as thats right. As is the same with Paterson, hes been found guilty of breaking rules by the independent standards comittee but there was an attempted cover up by the PM and his chums. Everyone, even my die hard Tory step father knows thats not right. You can chuck in he did this, she did that, it makes no difference until someone makes a difference. I dont think anybody reckons that person will be Johnson anymore. Hes taken this country backwards since he came into power.
That's like saying an armed robber apprehended by police as he holds up a bank didn't have a chance to steal anything
Boris is proving to be a quite useless PM when it comes to the details of running the Country, which is obviously his main job. He was probably the right "cheer leader" during the early days of the pandemic but he's now becoming a liability. He'll always be good at "pep talks", standing up to the EU etc, but he really needs to go asap. There are some Tories in the government who would do a much better job (not difficult) imo. However, long term, I would definitely be prepared to give a centre left party a chance in the future. Trouble is, I would never vote for Starmer, as I don't like or rate him and I couldn't vote for the Labour party in it's present form. We need a credible opposition and imo I don't think there is one. If there was an election in the coming months I genuinely don't think I could vote for any of the main parties. Politics and politicians are at an all time low imo and have been for quite some time. Not just here, but in many other countries too. Not sure what the answer is either, as just hating Tories cos they're Tories or left wingers cos they're left wingers etc etc gets us nowhere and leads to more and more division. They all have their faults, but surely it's time (I've been as guilty as anyone at not doing this) to try to recognise and acknowledge other people's opinions, no matter how different to your own, instead of just cancelling them and their views because they're not your views and if they're different to yours they simply MUST be wrong?
They're surely not going to make the poor criminal MP homeless. It's enough to want to throw acid in a landlord's face. Cue Corbyn, McDonnell and Abbott to the rescue to give good character references for Webbe as they did in the Crown Court
You going to have to explain why, pal. As much as I'm impressed with your intellect, I'm not going to accept your simple assurance
