So Mccallum has a recurrence of the hamstring injury he had not long ago, and will be out fur a while ! Send him back to Norwich and get in a decent replacement in January. De Wijs has a calf injury and will be out for at least 3 weeks. Bloody marvelous, add Dykes foot injury into the equation and things aren't too rosy again. Field to play in another game this week and hopefully be available for first team selection soon !

Chuckles is ref so i am predicting a first half penalty for them (he gave them 2 at HQ last season) + they haven't scored a first half goal this season.

Yep, this a record which I thought they might break when I read about it. But hopefully, it will be the only one.

The game is clearly winnable, but we must play well, take our chances and not make silly defensive mistakes.

We are also due an away win!

I am very interested in MW tactics for this match.

Dykes is being assessed this morning. Pretty doubtful.
Our limited squad is very stretched.

Perhaps worse if Dickie is out, he had some problem at the end of the Forest game. But otherwise we can put out a strongish team:
Dieng
Dickie, Dunne, Barbet
Albert, Dozzell, Jacobsen, Moses
Willock Chair
Austin.

And still have Gray. Duke, Ball, Kakay, Thomas, Amos and a Keeper on the Bench.

I think the team is ok. For me the choice of striker will depend on our tactics; Austin should we wish to play wider and cross, Gray if we wish to have more pace to get in behind. I guess will see both on the ptich today and and we can speculate as to the order of appearance.

I would just change the Jacobsen guy for Stefan Johansen :)

What, and leave Jacobsen on the bench? :emoticon-0100-smile

Gray isn’t exactly Usain Bolt himself but against Cardiff’s lumbering oafs he might be a better bet than Austin to force them back a bit. Fearing the worst, vague optimism for the best as ever with Rangers midweek away in November.

I wrote this over in the QPR Tactics thread:

On a serious note, what does everyone reckon for tonight's match, tactics wise? We surely have one of the physically weakest teams in the league. Cardiff typically like to go in strong.

Perhaps this calls for a more direct form of defending? Perhaps 4 at the back with Ball in front (my thinking here is that Dom Ball would be an additional player to get up for headers/aerial attacks when Cardiff do their long ball routine). Kakay and Odubajo is RB and LB for a bit more of a physical tussle?

Kakay - Dickie - Barbet - Odubaju

Ball

And then:

Johansen

Adomah - Chair - Willock

Dykes
Thoughts?

Certainly need to take the 3 points tonight after last nights results. wouldn’t have expected to see Coventry, Luton and Blackpool up there pushing for play-off places - fair play to them at this stage. We need to get back on course and hope for a jump from 11th to 5th.

This sounds ominous. Another monkey we need to get off our back ...
