As I understand it, if the ref has taken action in real time and VAR hasn’t changed it from yellow to red, that’s the end of the story.
It's a hypothetical scenario that is very unlikely to happen but we couldn't turn down that kind of silly money as long as we have time to reinvest it that is.
Wouldn't have been in the days of Terry Hurlock and a few others if it had been a Saints player chopped.
I thought he hated living in the north last time he went there. Granted Newcastle is very different to Burnley but still
We usually agree with each other on most things Ides , but in this case you seem to have under estimated footballer's need for greed and money talks. Remember Blackburn? Utd, City and the rest will still get big names but when players see what Newcastle are offering they'll be up there before you can say "It's always been a dream of mine to play for the Toon".
Oh absolutely. I am staggered stuff like this isn’t reviewed in detail as part of a performance review for refs they seem completely unaccountable
Newcastle are arguably an historically bigger club than Chelsea and Citeh were before their massive investment and there's is no reason why they can't become as successful as them in a couple of seasons.
Agreed. However, I think it’ll be a little harder now that say 10-15 years ago. Will require some shrewd CEO management & ****e loads of investment. 5 years minimum I’d say. Btw, I’m sort of loving the club fall out over this. Probably won’t help SFC but think we’re already a bit up ****e creek & without that life saving paddle & can’t see anything/ much changing even if we get a new owner.
Yes there is - there are more top teams in the PL now then there were back then. Liverpool weren't as good, teams like Everton and Spurs were bottom half. The PL is far more competitive now than it was back then.
Hopefully Ralph can use last night’s incident at his hearing. Had VAR told Dean to review the foul, he would probably have had to change his decision from yellow to red. I think is the point Ralph was making when he said that he knew that JWP’s card would become a red once the VAR official (Dean?) referred the ref to the screen and that it wasn’t an attack on the ref’s integrity.
Yes it is more the inconsistency of the VAR application that is the problem. I don’t fully blame Dean on this one as he is a human and watching things in real time
