Plumpton 2:30 Mawlood

A course winner over hurdles of a higher mark. Both runs over fences better than finishing position may suggest. A mistake 4 out halting his momentum at Stratford last time out (outpaced final furlongs). The talented Tabitha Worseley takes off valuable 5 lb again.

Plumpton 4.15 Can't Stop Now

Won well from the front in a juvenile hurdle one year ago and stable amongst the winners last 14 days. Chris Gordon does well with his hurdlers in handicaps at Plumpton over the last 5 seasons

Runs 82 Wins 15 Placed 27 PL 26.25

I expect a bold front running performance today at a nice each way price.

Some interesting entries at Cheltenham on Friday including the huge Danny Kirwan finally going chasing. Also Faivoir with a couple of entries and any number from the Elliot yard.

That mark of 133, in the novice handicap, looks most appealing re Danny Kirwin. Eye-catching. The same stable may also debut the Devizes crews, Stage Star, over hurdles, at the same meet. Although the latter also has an entry at God's own racecourse on Thursday.

You think Zanahiyr will stay at home?

Gordon normally enters loads and runs very few. It depends on if he goes for his recent approach or reverts to the loads of runners he had in 2018. If he declares him I think itll scare at least a couple off.

Last season's juveniles looked an above average bunch so it will be interesting to see how they fare against their elders this term. This race on Saturday might be a stepping stone to open company for the winner

Do they?

Just had a quick look at Saturday's Cheltenham card and my regular readers will know what excites me most about it. There is a Pertemps Qualifier. Hooooooooooorah, say I! Is that the first this season??? Can't recall any others. More plots than an Agatha Christie novel and all that...

Meanwhile, that Bumper that concludes the fixture looks Classy with a capital 'C'. Potential and some, methinks...

And something to note in that very race the Hendo horse has been renamed since its purchase. Is that significant??? I don't know. Now called Swapped. Not hugely expensive though at €32,000.

I thought the 4YO hurdle looked tasty but Nass (in a rather grumpy "Scrooge bah humbug" style which is in danger of becoming his trademark) decried it as likely being a match race. Hopefully he who shall not be mentioned will send his charge over from Cullentra

Bit of housekeeping re Swapped. The Lambourn correspondent in 'The Weekender' is raving about him in the current issue.

And he has now been declared to run in the Bumper at Cheltenham (5.15) on Saturday which looks an absolutely Corking Contest with 2 capital 'C's'. Would certainly recommend members watch that heat together with their notebooks.

I’m a bit surprised that Sky Bet have installed Top Dog as 7/2 fav for that bumper - do they think he is related to me perhaps?
