Boris announced in his tribute that Southend has been designated as a city in David's honour. Unashamed to admit to weeping at this news and the tributes from Johnson and Starmer.

What if they’re on the terror watchlist but haven’t done anything?

 

Must be particularly gutting for you having known him so well, he was obviously a cut above the ordinary MP...

 

Funnily enough, when I first started working for him I was a little disappointed. Naively I'd thought every day would be high politics and debating great issues of national or international importance. As many of the tributes have flagged, however, David cared so much more about local issues, and 80% of my time ended up being spent support xyz local charity or resident on a whole range of issues. 20% of my time was writing speeches. David knew what was more important and I slowly came to realise that, and it's even more apparent how true that today, given the huge numbers of stories that have been shared about his kindness and help for othes.

 

No offence intended but the average joe on the street is a cut above the ordinary MP.

 

Thats a start eh, we just need to take back control...........somehow!

 

if only there was some way to stop people arriving on the beaches or in the back of trucks

An MP was murdered in broad daylight by someone known to the authorities as a suspected terror risk and within 48 hours we've been shifted into a debate about online anonymity and online abuse.

 

Could somehow take back control of our borders...maybe

that the elephant in the room is "vile abuse" online that contributed to Sir David Amess' death.
