Sorry if this match day thread is a bit later than usual, but I've delayed putting it up on the off chance that Newcastle announce Potter as their new manager. He's done a great job with Brighton and is surely set fair for a 'bigger club' soon.

Brighton have made an excellent start to the season and their defence seems very strong, so it's not going to be an easy game, but at least they will probably let us play football rather than kick us off the park, so I hope we can be a bit more expansive than we were against Burnley. Like so many lower-half teams, they doubled us in 2019/20, and we failed to score against them, so time for revenge.

We still seem a long way from knowing what our best team or even our best formation is, so I hope this is the game where finally it all starts to click, and that Pukki returns with bags of confidence after making history for Finland and makes his own little bit of history with us on Saturday by bagging us a first win of the season.

Cantwell and Normann should both be fit to play. The former has been back in training for over a week and the latter's abdominal problem has not proved to be a problem:

"The 25-year-old pulled out of the latest Norway squad to ensure he didn’t aggravate a minor abdominal injury, after playing his first full 90 minutes during the 0-0 draw at Burnley ahead of the break, but is back in training and expected to be fit to continue his Premier League progress."

He must be looking forward to settling some old debts as well:

Probably a bit too attacking for Farke, but we don't look like creating much with 352.

I would be happy with that if Farke would play the formation for the final 35 mins - so we could keep it tight as a 352 to frustrate and then go for it a bit more in the second half.

Very much agree, Rob. This is a key game after two tough away games and Chelsea coming up next week. A result is vital and a win could kickstart our season. We need to build on the draw at Burnley by not conceding first. Brighton also use a 3-5-2 formation and have moved up to 6th place by doing so. I'd play the same line-up again to build consistency and understanding between the players. Brighton will have that already and we need to match them. If they score first we may have to gamble, but let's not begin that way.

Just been listening to TalkSport, a pundit (sorry missed his name) stated that Brentford are where they are because they are more physical than NCFC, especially their front two. Has he got a point? It was Dean Ashton!! Seems a pretty sound pundit without trying to be sensational.

I'd agree especially with Gilmore we look a little lightweight, not that we aren't getting better in that department.
