It's a Jo Cox all over again, although the motives behind this murder still unknown. Problem is MP's need to be able to have free access to their constituency, without concerns of safety, that's what democracy is all about. We can't allow events like this erode the very fabric of our society and how we do things.

I don't know how free the access is to these constituencies. Anyone who wants to visit should be able to, but it's time there were secure entrances. I know you can't run it like an airport, but you can at least have a secure entrance like you find in schools and people emptying pockets before they're allowed in.

That also means not holding it in a methodist church for starters and having proper secure buildings.

This is truly horrific. Genuinely saddened by the news.

I didn't know who it was until I saw this post and his photo.

I remember this bloke. He was elected in 1992 iirc. His win in that constituency was an iconic image at the time. Anyone who remembers, will recall that the Tories were predicted to lose the general election, but when this bloke won the seat early on, everyone realised the swing to Labour wasn't enough and John Major would win the GE.

The clip of him punching the air was pretty much the the highlight of that election night.

R.I.P.

Bit surprised that counter terrorism command is carrying out the early investigations. I just made assumption that it would be someone aggrieved by a domestic tory policy over something.
