A donkey will likely score more goals against knackered opposition players if he comes on in the last 1/4 of a game. A knackered donkey starting a game is likely to be outplayed/outwitted by a fresh opposition player.
Disappointing. I know eves hasn't done it for us. I wish he had. When he gets a chance he gives his all. How about at a time when he's earnt a chance you get behind him

Agreed. I've slated Eaves in the past quite harshly (probably too harshly) but he did well today and worked his bollocks off. For as long as I've seen him play, he always works hard. Might not be the most technically-gifted footballer but I thought he did his job well today and was pivotal in us standing toe-to-toe with a very rough and physical Boro side.

No doubt about it, we got lucky today, forced to change system due to no fullbacks. Started off very well on front foot but they had a couple of chances 1st half, how they missed from 6 yards out is beyond me.
2nd half they had plenty of chances 2 clear cut but Ingram made a great save after Mcloughlin somehow lost his man, then they blazed wildly over when a simple lay off would have surely been better.
A great strike by klp and we got the luck needed rebounding in off the keeper.
Then we sat far too deep and let them have another chance with another great save from Ingram.
Free kick was rightly disallowed for their player pushing the wall and ref blew whistle early.
Then the goal on the break to seal the win.
One thing is Mccant hasn't lost the dressing room despite the very poor results, and big Tom looked OK with someone alongside him, although haven't a clue how he never got a yellow for persistent fouls.
3 points out of the bottom 3 but we were far from convincing and you can bet it will be back to 4-3-3 when the personnel are available.

"Where three or more defending team players form a ‘wall’, all attacking team players must remain at least 1 m (1 yd) from the ‘wall’ until the ball is in play."

Yup. Denmark's free-kick against England during the Euros should've been disallowed for this very reason as well. No idea how that one wasn't disallowed with VAR but the ref today made the right decision in similar circumstances.

Me neither and I did expect him to pick up a yellow. That being said, Eaves' fouling actually worked in our favour today. One thing we've struggled with so far this season is the physicality of the Championship and all the ****house antics that go on. We needed a centre-forward like Eaves to let the Boro defenders know he was there and to not pick up a booking whilst doing it is quite canny. The Blades did it to us and Billy Sharp in particular played us and the ref like a fiddle and got away with it.

Where do you get the impression I'm not behind him? He's played today - ergo I'm behind him, he's in the team. I answered a direct question. He's not ripping up trees for obvious reasons. He earnt his chance because Magennis lost his place, not because he (Eaves) has suddenly become our saviour. In many ways we are scraping the barrel - and we know why that is.

I'm not sure if you have noticed but we are scraping the barrel and have been since we were in the premier league. Grant mcann like the managers before him are swimming upstream. I think grant has got some momentum and is doing ok. Just my opinion

Watching Eaves today was a pleasure. Everything that I want to see from a City player.
First class job.

I really hope today's different set up was by choice rather than forced circumstance. TWT.
Re. Eaves fouling. Other side of the coin is that he is being constantly fouled too. Chicken or egg. The wresting and shirt holding that goes on is ridiculous. I've slated him in the past, but today he did his job well ..... and got an assist ::emoticon-0112-wonde
I agree, lady luck was on our side today, but the effort deserved it.
Hopefully he (McCann) keeps with 3 5 2 now, and uses the break to work on it.

He put himself about today, what's not to like..

I'm sure you'll agree that's 100% what we all want!!! We might not have the most skilful players in this division but there's a real togetherness and fight about them. That win has been coming and was great to see.UTT.

Of course I've noticed, but I have reservations about GM's ability, partly because of the shackles the owners have put him under (lack of available funds for strengthening the team towards being league promotion challengers), and his intransigence in changing strategy on the pitch prior to and during matches. One trick pony?
Maybe the last 15 minutes today have caused an epiphany/renaissance that may augur well?

I'm happy to hear that. I only managed to listen to the audio commentary on iFollow today.
I'll look forward to watching the full game (video) in the next couple of days. Hope Eaves can sustain that level of performance you saw.
