Leeds United striker Patrick Bamford has received his first senior call-up for England's 2022 World Cup qualifiers.

Right-back Trent-Alexander Arnold returns to the squad after missing Euro 2020 with a thigh injury, with midfielder Jesse Lingard also recalled to the squad.

Chelsea left-back Ben Chilwell and Manchester United forward Mason Greenwood have been left out of the 25-man squad.

Marcus Rashford and Phil Foden both miss out through injury, while Arsenal's Ben White has Covid.

    England squad:

Goalkeepers: Sam Johnstone (West Brom), Jordan Pickford (Everton), Nick Pope (Burnley)

Defenders: Trent Alexander-Arnold (Liverpool), Conor Coady (Wolves), Reece James (Chelsea), Harry Maguire (Manchester United), Tyrone Mings (Aston Villa), Luke Shaw (Manchester United), John Stones (Manchester City), Kieran Tripper (Atletico Madrid), Kyle Walker (Manchester City)

Midfielders: Jude Bellingham (Borussia Dortmund), Jordan Henderson (Liverpool), Jesse Lingard (Manchester United), Mason Mount (Chelsea), Kalvin Phillips (Leeds United), Declan Rice (West Ham)

Forwards: Patrick Bamford (Leeds United), Dominic Calvert-Lewin (Everton), Jack Grealish (Manchester City), Harry Kane (Tottenham), Bukayo Saka (Arsenal), Jadon Sancho (Manchester United), Raheem Sterling (Manchester City)

Southgate could call up Messi, Neymar and Ronaldo. He'd still never win feck all.

Seriously How he has been selected is beyond me. Long way down the line when it comes to strikers.

He's never played for them, so he's still eligible for England.

Bamford's in. Eaves must be wondering how he's missed out again.

Bamford over Antonio or Ings is criminal.

I would have thought you'd given up playing for England a long time ago, but fair play for keeping the dream alive, at least until this latest set back.

    You never know though

I do think my dream has passed. You know how they'll never pick a City player. Maybe its the same for City fans...

West Ham striker Michail Antonio is set to make his first appearance for Jamaica at the age of 31 in the upcoming World Cup qualifiers.

He has been named in the Reggae Boyz squad to face Panama in Kingston on Sunday.

Covid travel restrictions will stop him flying to Mexico and Costa Rica for their other qualifiers this month.

Antonio only made himself available for Jamaica this year, having previously sat on the bench for England.

London-born Antonio, who is this season's leading Premier League scorer with four goals in three games so far, was an unused substitute in what was Sam Allardyce's only game in charge of the England team in 2016.

Good for him. If Southgate prefers Bamford over him for whatever reason, he should still take the chance of international football and the possibility of playing in a World Cup. I didn't realise he's 31, I thought he was mid-20s. This is realistically his last chance of playing at a World Cup. He averages a goal every 3 games in the Premier League, which is nowt to be sniffed at.

Bamford no longer in the squad, replaced by Watkins (and Tomori's somehow got in as well)...

On Bellingham & Greenwood omissions, Southgate tells Sky that “they are players with a heavy load of games atm. We have to remember these lads are still physically growing. We have to be really careful how we handle them. They’ll be really exciting players for #eng in the future”

    Bamford's injured apparently.
