Came across a bit of vintage gear myself yesterday, a Hermes 3000 portable typewriter was getting thrown out, checked out the serial number and it's a 1961 one, a rare 1958 one sold for $3,750I have this one pristine too .

On a totally unrelated note I have 2 Brexit 50psAs someone who grew up scavenging the local dump: you'd be amazed what people throw away. Old person dies, most of their stuff goes in a skip.
Didn't know there was such a thing. I put all the rare 50ps aside, a lot of people do. And the £2 coins, must have getting on for £100 in face value in a drawer. On a totally unrelated note I have 2 Brexit 50ps
That's how I got hold of that typewriter, mother died and her daughter having a clear out.As someone who grew up scavenging the local dump: you'd be amazed what people throw away. Old person dies, most of their stuff goes in a skip.
Might have a little guilt thing going on if it is worth all that and feel the need to giver her the money. Like I feel guilty about the 17 thrash metal LPs I bought in a charity shop for 50p each about 25 years ago which I just recently looked up on Discogs, the top 5 are averaging £94, £80, £56, £53, £45.That's how I got hold of that typewriter, mother died and her daughter having a clear out.
Kew Gardens ones are worth a fair bit and a couple of the Olympics ones were very rare, hundreds of pounds. You must log in or register to see images
