I would keep the same team providing everyone's recovered well and is 100% ready for Millwall. Abe looked particualarly leggy 2nd half and 3 games in 7 days could see a few fatigued and we can't afford to go under-strength and under-energised against what will be a battling Millwall side. So I agree that on form, no-one deserves to be dropped but, if there are a few not fully recovered, don't be surprised to see a couple of changes just to freshen it up.
^ good point. I expect Fernandes is waiting eagerly in the wings!! Im at uni so didnt see the game... did Johnson struggle?
Team should be Schmeichel Peltier Bamba St. Ledger Konchesky Abe Wellens Danns Johnson Nugent Beckford
Johnson was actually my man of the match. At the base of the diamond, he dictated the play and picked out passes that started our attack well and him and Wellens were very good orchestrating the play and you could see they were on the same wavelength with their passing and vision and those two (Johnson particularly) added that creative spark that maybe we've been missing. I think it remains to be seen whether Johnson has the defensive capabilities to play that deep and whether his tackling is good enough and maybe in the bigger games I'd play him further forward and play someone more combative and a better tackler (i.e. Abe/Fernandes) but in these games where we have to break teams down, I think Johnson at the base orchestrating the play is the way forward.
Agree 100% - some of Johnsons passing in the first half was excellent and he's strong on the ball and not brushed off too easily (Take note Richie W.!) Kingy again anonymous
King doesn't deserve to be in the team. He has been poor since he signed a new contract. Neil Danns should come in the team for him now. Drop King from the squad for a few weeks and hen bring him back on the bench.
I must be the only one who thought Johnson and Wellens were OK but nothing special, King had a much improved performance from Birmingham and Abe was the standout midfielder. None of them played badly though.
I think it is going to be difficult for a Lions side currently lacking in confidence .. predict another 2-0
Johnson ran our midfield from the back lots of good passing, he calmed things down and set the pace, he was solid, Wellens did well playing with him, but I am not sure about King & Abe? I would prefer Danns to King at the moment, drfinitly Beckford & Nugent, but they do need games together, even though they both scored on Weds! I was pleased with ledge, Bamba was exciting at times again! I would settle for 2-0 again, clean sheet and 3 points
So back to tomorrows game, we have had some really big wins at home against Millwall, I fancy a 3-0 tomorrow, the players should be fairly relaxed after the midweek win and not anxious! Hopefully Sven has shown them the first half performance back on the big screen and this will inspire them! Emilio/Proud - forgot to include this on the Millwall board hence no comments yet from them!
You see I've tried to move this to the Millwall board as well but now I can't move it back as I can't control the Millwall board Can a Wall mod shed any light on how to put this on 2 boards?
I would settle for 2-0, I think we will have confidence after Weds and will win. Is that photo of Louise or Morraine? Cannot see clearly!
