Never understood why people present stuff like this, its completely and utterly meaningless. Its completely dependent on the clubs you've managed, when, how much money you had to spend etc etc. Its as much use for judging managers as Lascelles in a game of who can turn round the quickest. Rafa is a good example of that. His overall on there is 49.4 sounds good. Yet in the PL at Newcastle where you're a bottom half club, he comes in at 33.3.

I get you to a point but my question then would be is why has he always been a bottom feeder?

Nobody thinks he's a good manager.

Did nufc fans say we'd go down under Bruce the last 2 seasons? Yes

Did newcastle stay up twice now under Bruce? Yes.

Did newcastle fans give him any credit? No

Just simple objectivity. Take the emotion out of it or him not being a popular name, his record against our club goals has been pretty solid. Not fantastic like Parker would have you think, but he achieved the task set out quite easily.

Again you make the point about Rafa having the terrible start to the season. The worst there was in recent times. It'll be fine. Bruce has a rocky start, one bad game was enough, completely different outlook. I think everyone would accept Rafa is a better manager than Bruce. However reputation should not really form part of the discussion when assessing how someone has done. That's a trait of our fans though for quite some time. I get it though, Bruce is a bit of a ****hawk so its understandable people want better.

Its depends if you're asking my opinion or what the results bear out? He's a **** manager so no good clubs would employ him. That is my personal opinion.

Being objective about what the results suggest, impossible to say as he hasn't been given a chance at a higher level so there is actually no way of knowing how he would do. That's just a fact. I think he would do ****, but being honest nobody can say that would be the case for sure cause there is zero evidence to back it up.

It doesn't change the fact that those stats are absolutely meaningless and have zero context. We've already established stats are a **** way to judge teams players managers and even individual games on here at various junctures. Some folk just lose the plot believing that "the stats don't lie". Anyone with a brain can work out that stats in football or life in general can be manipulated to show whatever you want.

He does not read enough to understand other people's position anyway

I think a lot of our fans have boxed themselves into a corner on Bruce because of how they were with Rafa. They got way too carried away about Rafa's time here, all the hero worship etc was just embarrassing. Big name I get it, managed some top clubs, but people just went way overboard. Rafa did a good solid job here and achieved the goals. His time wasn't amazing, the football was pretty crap but defensively sound. However against the backdrop of this owner, all things considered he did a good job. Bruce has mirrored that job in terms of achieving the goals, bettered the football probably overall although not as good defensively, so you'd think good job done. Nope different set of parameters suddenly introduced simply because they don't like him.

I don't like Bruce as a manager. However I find it quite easy to be objective about his time here. Results wise, straight up matched Rafa. End of story. I want him gone not because of the results of last two seasons, but because I feel like we could watch better more modern football and still achieve the goals. I also wasn't that bothered when Rafa left because of this reason. I'm realistic enough to know however we will probably just get another Bruce type appointment. I'd just change it anyway because the fans are toxic when like this.

The fans are fully aware they've been shown to be wrong two years running now

Twice they've said Bruce would take the club down that season unless replaced and twice he's proved them wrong.

It's now become so embarrassing for them that they can't just say they were wrong, so instead they try desperately to find some whataboutery.

Instead of saying fair play I was wrong they've used mental gymnastics to stay in the argument and waited for a short poor run of form and gone all in again.

Imagine if he does it 3 times? They'll try a 4th and a 5th and when he goes they'll think they were right.

They got the club relegated chasing out pardew... I hated him but that was a mistake. Careful what you wish for
