The thing with Joshua is he'll take on anyone.

The judges had it about level after 8 rounds but Usyk put his foot on the gas.

I genuinely think if Joshua had not been so cautious and unloaded on Usyk he'd of hurt him.

I think if he can go attack Usyk in the rematch he'll beat him. You could see how weary Usyk was of Joshua's power.

Joshua very gun shy at the moment. Better boxer won with a brilliant plan

Was Frank Bruno in AJ's corner? One paced, robotic, punch drunk journey man. Retire Joshua. Fury would thrash your arse.

Sounds like Joshua was outclassed by a far superior boxer. Ring walk was embarrassing. He’s a show man more than anything else.

It’s quite disappointing a cruiserweight can go up a weight class and win four belts after his third fight in that division. Usyk is an exceptional boxer who could out-box every heavyweight barring Fury, though he probably doesn’t have the power to KO most heavyweights. It’s just quite embarrassing for heavyweight boxing in general.

I can't see anyone beating Fury anytime soon, I think he'll retire undefeated.

It's a falicy that Joshua isn't a good boxer. You don't win an olympic gold medal if you're not an exceptional boxer. However usyk is an absolute master boxer and to try and outbox a man who is more talented and much more agile was absolute madness. I actually only had usyk winning by 2 by the final bell so everyone saying Joshua was terrible etc I think are going slightly overboard but it just baffles me why he took the approach he did. A gatekeeper like chisora while not causing usyk serious problems did show the way to nullify him is to use your size advantage and don't give him room to create the angles he's so good and making. AJ decided to hold the centre of the ring and usyk just circled him. He's been gun shy since the first Ruiz fight and a heavyweight champion who's scared to let his hands go is a recipe for disaster.
I like Rob McCracken but it's time Joshua moved on. He must be encouraging this style and its just not playing to his strengths at all.

I disagree. He gains an advantage because he has one hell of a punch, but like many lauded by the media these days, such as Khan etc, he is very one dimensional, and lacks variety, but appears to believe his own media bullshit.

It's a conversation I've had with younger members of the family that didn't have the privilege of seeing some of the better boxers in the past.

If Joshua resorted to type, and tried to bomb a decent boxer out of the ring, he'd struggle if the opponent was wiley enough to have a plan B and Plan C.

I agree to a point but the sheer size advantage who holds over usyk combined with what he's got in his locker should have been enough hence my chisora example.
Personally I think heavyweight boxing has been in a lul since the last great entertaining heavyweight in lennox Lewis retired. But those days are gone now. The Klitschko brothers changed the blueprint and made the division boring. The only one to change that was Fury with his awkward style but he's not all the public crack him up to be either. He's somehow managed to persuade people that he's some super slick boxer who moves like sugar Ray Leonard because he can make unranked fighters like otta wallin look silly. Watch his fight back with Klitschko, he won that because he was so unorthodox that vlad didn't know what to do with him. I firmly believe that had he had the rematch Fury would have lost.
Back to AJ. I agree about the media bullshit. He's far too busy promoting his own brand. When you put in performances like last night things like that are rightly looked upon as a distraction. I don't really like the bloke but based on the tools available and with all of them at their very best I still think Joshua is probably the best heavyweight just about.

I agree to a point, although I think Lewis only survived because the division was already a weak one. The number of old timers like Norton popping up for a quick pay day, and still managing to be competitive highlights that.

Sorry Dutch gonna have to agree to disagree there. Lewis was an absolute monster for me. Not without his faults but I loved watching him. It was the golden age of heavyweight boxing Tyson, holyfield, mercer, Lewis, bowe and a few more I can't think of.

Have to agree, I'm a big Lewis fan, was one of the best of all time, vicious jab and uppercut. Sure he had a couple of shock defeats but he avenged them in style. He would wipe the floor with today's lot.

Neither can I tbf! But that's only because he does everything he can not to fight! Just remind me again how many times he's defended a belt?

Edit - I'm not saying he's a bad boxer, just that he spends more time talking absolute rubbish then actually fighting and until he's actually defended a belt I personally don't think he can be classed as a great.

Nothing wrong with opinions, I just don't see it the same way, especially not in comparison to some of the other truly great boxers.

Why it’s only like Mayweather fighting above his weight class or pac man in his prime
Canelo is brilliant but couldn't lay a glove on money..

Firstly I'm not a big fan of boxing, it must be said. But I watched a fight of Wilders, I don't remember who against and he looked an absolute beast.

Then he came up against Fury.

Fury actually smiled at him the whole fight. He smiled in Wilders face the whole time. His confidence was unbelievable and I've never seen that in a boxer before.

That and the fact he's so ****ing massive...
