Everyone who criticized Chair from shooting from that angle has forgotten his previous goal from exactly the same angle.

Warbs had two substitutions ( deWisj and Johansen) forced on him. ...

I personally would have put on Adomeh rather Dykes...but he was obviously looking for a forward who could hold up the ball, when received long....and play off for Gray.

But Gray was shot by then....from a year of inactivity and not having a preseason with us..


Dieng who has saved us so many times this season and also earlier in this match cost us the points, as WBA were beginning to lose faith....but that happens. I expect Dieng is feeling pretty bad about it, he doesn't need us to be on his back... it was a simple error, I suspect he will not make another one like that.

Warbs will be much more annoyed at Chair losing the ball in those areas that gives teams an opportunity to run at us.. He bangs on about so much even I know not to flap around with the ball.


Birmingham is going to be an important match ...

Haven't forgotten his previous goal from that angle but that was with his right foot and whipped up into the roof of the net. This effort was running away from goal and with his weaker foot, also he had Dyjes stood in the middle to tap into an empty net. He never got his head up to look once, and it isn't the first time he's been completely blinkered. He needs to improve his awareness alot in my eyes. Spends far too much time dallying and showboating on the ball when a much simpler option us available. Taarabt he ain't !

I have been following our progress mainly by reading reports and the comments on here and have only watched the highlights but I still think we are missing something, even though we have made great signings.
Anyway, one name keeps popping up in my mind is BOS, I would love to see him in this squad he has pace to frighten defences can play right or left, can hold the ball and knows how to cross and even tackles. Apart from that he knows the club, personel, some players well.
I know he didn't leave on the best terms but I would like him back this season.

Yes, Bos could do all that, though often didn't cross. But expect he would be too expensive.

Would he? Has anyone followed his progress in Turkey? If he has pride, is prepared to swallow some humble pie and apologise to his former team mates and wants to continue to develop to his full potential then yes might be worth a punt. I suspect however his attitude is all wrong. If he has not learned a valuable lesson or two he would be a damaging influence in the dressing room

He’s playing there regularly and would have a load of bigger/wealthier clubs than us in for him if he were to come back.

I think a lot if not all of us need to take a moment to think who we are and where we are. We may be guilty of getting carried away by such a fast start to the season. We are 17th in budgetary terms in this Division and light years behind the likes of West Brom and Fulham. They had a player on the pitch last night that cost more than our entire squad!
A lot of flak regarding selections and substitutions but I think we are overlooking the fact that we had a game against Premier League opposition on Tuesday night whereas WBA had a few days off. None of know the condition of our players and its very likely that Warbs knew he shouldnt put young Willock through 90 minutes.
We had a very fortunate start and it was always going to be tough to hold on yet barring a very unfortunate rebound off Diengs arm we might well have come away with all three points.
I really wish I had fiver for every time someone shot instead of passing. One of the great strikers once said that you should always shoot as adding an extra pass is just giving another opportunity for things to go wrong and its not like Dykes is deadly in front of goal now is it!
Every team in this league is going to have to weather a storm, its all about getting through it quickly and what you do from there. The next month is crucial for us and a win spree will have us back dreaming again.
We could probably really do without the Carabao Cup in terms of fatigue.

However, if you're referring to Chair shooting instead of crossing, he 100% should have crossed the ball. His decision making is simply awful.

Yes he missed some opportunities against Bristol but not from standing 2 yards out without the keeper there ! Chair shoots far too often without getting his head up to see if there's anyone better placed. Chair's primary job is to supply tge chances for the strikers and Dykes is too finish those chances. Chair didn't get his head up once, there was no other thought in his head but to shoot, it happens too often. 2-0 and the game would've been dead

Well i heard he ìs still good mates with many in our dressing room. He eats Brummie and south Wales pies with Turkish delights, not humble pies.

I think we need to put things in perspective, we've lost 2-1 to Bournemouth and West Brom, 1st and 2nd in the table and both unbeaten and benefitting from largely Premier League squads and oceans of parachute payments. Bristol City was one of those games and a major disappointment but sh*t happens. We beat a decent Everton side outplaying them at times.

We're light years ahead of where we were a year ago but the depth of our squad doesn't match those top teams and that will take some bridging. Injuries are starting to bite us so we need to cut the carping and get behind the team, there's an awful long way to go yet...

It most definately is. The gap is growing season after season and making the dream of the premier league more distant. I actually am quite bored by the Premier league to be honest. 5/6 clubs battle the european slots and the rest just make up the numbers.

Totally agree. It is dire to watch, I don't envy the enjoyment that supporters of Newcastle, Everton etc get from watching their team play in a league which they know they have little chance of winning and are just hoping to survive at the end of the season for financial purposes only.
When watching any premier league game, I am always rooting for the underdog to cause an upset, is that wrong?

Totally agree. It is dire to watch, I don't envy the enjoyment that supporters of Newcastle, Everton etc get from watching their team play in a league which they know they have little chance of winning and are just hoping to survive at the end of the season for financial purposes only.

Thats exactly how i feel. I always want the underdog to win. I cant stand the top 6.

All absolutely fair points.
I don't think it's carping to have the opinion that our open set up will make us attractive to watch, but liable to concede too many goals.
We have some excellent attacking players, especially Willock who seems to get better and better.

Absolutely agree Bob. The championship is a very competitive league where things can change around within just a few weeks (mostly because of the packed schedule). For me, the EFL is doing a crap job of marketing their product - letting promotion be the only thing this league is about. They should be maximising the competitive angle and encouraging teams to become more competitive. Media barely talks about anything EFL because the product holders don’t promote it well enough. They need to excite the world outside into the league, create characters and emphasise the league and build its own cup product with benefits to the leagues they represent. EPL is destructive for teams and supporters unless you’re in the top six; the rest are inconsequential fodder.
