By the way, it's 3-0 to Brentford. They just scored a penalty after a late slide tackle.

I find this a bit strange. It's basically an extra fixture / friendly for the u23s.

We're not playing much of the senior team tactics. Not passing out from the back and building. Didn't start with 3 at the back. It just seems pointless to have a B team it this is what it's used for.

However, maybe it's early days and is still being organised with senior management staff.

The side seemed to be made up mostly of the lads that were the u18's plus 1 or 2 slightly more experienced........ very early days for this side and it will take a few games for the style of play to be developed, but imagine it will start to look the same as the senior side.......

I confess that I still don't get it. Senior players seem to play for the U23s from time to time. What's the difference between a B team and an U23s game? Why do we need both a B team and an U23s?

The only thing I really care about - did Amos get 90 mins and was he unscathed?

I think they expect it to provide more competitive "Men's' football than the promising youngsters get in the U23', players like Amos needing match fitness coming back from injury, and for 1st team players who predominately sit on the Bench.

How? Different opponents? Is this idea we end up playing against other B teams? Non-league sides?

I spoke to a Brentford supporter today and he said it takes years to really develop a B team. I don't quite know what that means, because there is no B team league. However, Brentford are unique in the sense that they ONLY buy players. There is no development or youuth squads (u23s, u18s, etc.). They just have the B team.

It's funny how QPR have stated it will offer better competition for the players to experience. The u23 league provides better and more realistic competition as the matches mean something in terms of points picked up or dropped.

I think by playing other League Clubs B teams. We have entered a QPR side from the B and U23 teams into something called the 2021/2022 Premier League Cup which has 8 groups of 4 teams, with Boro, Forest and Blackburn home and away in our Group. We lost already at Boro I think. There is detail on this on the Official'News, dated 3 September.

I keep hearing from people who actually watch, that the level of U23 games is generally low and non- competitive, and they hope this will be an improvement.

That's helpful, thanks. Here's hoping it produces more gems.
