Slater deal.... Loan was agreed and almost announced, sheff utd got wind of other permanent interest so went back to hull and said it's permanent or nothing with a fee of xyz. That other interest never actually materialised and sheff utd went back to hull and offered slater again. Hull then said actually we only want to offer loan fee of xyz now as you have messed us about twice now this window.... Deal feel through.

That's what I've been told from 2 people now
They did us a favour, we didn’t need him,

I think mid table is slightly ambitious tbh with what we have .. realistically speaking we have a bottom half budget .. if we finish 16th to 18th I would suggest that's about where our budget would place us, any higher and its a bonus. We definitely need to start scoring, too much pressure is being put on our inexperienced central defenders who are stepping up in class from last season. Whether the goals start coming once gorgeous George is back up to speed remains to be seen, but ya can't win games without goals in your team. 16th to 18th will do just fine, this season is all about consolidation.
3 trialists for u23s today. Maybe still considering additions?
I honestly think our wage budget would be bottom 3. We are no longer laden with any high paid legacy players; they are all now in line with the 'new' operating model. Very few if any others clubs can say that. On the plus side, it means we have no deadwood and should have enough to be safe. Pity we couldn't have done more though to kick on from last season and given McCann a fighting chance to challenge at the right end of the table. It probably wouldn't have taken much.

I reckon Callum Elder is the only one left that doesn't fall in line with the 'new' operating model, as presumably he'll be back on his old championship wage.

few games in now and window shut and i genuinely think we lack championship quality in Most areas , if not all. that includes the dugout.

i would be amazed if we do not finish rock bottom, struggling to see where the confidence of many of we should have enough to stay up is coming from.
not been overly negative for the sake of it, i just think its the facts of the matter , im not convinced returning fans favourites Wilks and Honeyman will improve things as much as everyone hopes, jury is still out on them at this level
even on Saturday everyboy seemed really pleased with our efforts, and im racking my brain trying to remember if they even needed a goalkeeper.
ive mentioned before but it really does feel like every game we are a league one side in a cup tie trying to compete with teams from higher up , and you can only sustain that for so long before getting found out regularly.
love to be proved wrong, just as i see it at the moment.

Smith in the first half and doc rattling the crossbar were te best chances in the entire game. They created 3 but didn't come as close.

We won't be facing Fulham and Bournemouth and QPR every week. They are all with a good shout of promotion. And I expect us to finish around 17-18th which is where we are 5 games in despite playing most games so far against top end opppsition Though the fixtures won't be as tricky as they have been so far all season.

Of course time will tell, but we are where I expect us to be currently.

I think you're being overly pessimistic at this stage. 5 games in, 3 of them against almost certain top 6 finishers, only the one really poor performance imo v Derby, we're missing what we believe are 2 of our key larkers and we're trying to bed in new ones. Let's see what we look like after we've played a few games with a full hand before we throw the towel in.

I dont remember Smith, but to be fair i did go for a piss so i probably missed it <laugh>

just my current opinion, same as i put bets on before the season starts, just going off gut.
my bets are usually wrong , and hopefully so will this be .
the championship is famed for being one of the most competitive , the league where anybody can beat anybody , bottom can beat top, coupon busters every week
so i really dont think we should just accept teams might be in top 6 , so not scoring 4 games in a row is ok

Hey, it could be worse, Arsenal haven't scored at all yet :emoticon-0140-rofl:

This time the team looks to have much more fight and spirit in it. If they are together then they will make a better fist of it than the pile of heartless turds did when Bowen and Turbo left. We need a few games for the young lads to gel together and the break will give time for the injured to return. We won’t know until November if we are in real trouble and we would have Jan window to sort it. It’s not as bad as the goal less run looks. Plenty of other championship sides have made it without superstars and so can we.

Fulham, Bournemouth & QPR will all be in the Top 10.
Preston will be around us in the table and we hammered them.
Derby was a shocking performance against a poor side which I said at the time was a very worrying performance.
Though I didn’t expect us get anything from Bournemouth game so we are roughly where most of us would have expected us to be
4-6 points at this stage.

George and Mallik make a big difference to our team, rock on post the international break when hopefully both back

Our top scorer, top assist maker haven't really played yet and we lost the 2 most creative (I'd imagine next choice) players in moncur and longman as well.

Smith looks decent but only has 1 game. Williams looks like he has something too but you can't judge them after the number of minutes so far.

It's about staying up. There's huge disparity in quality between the top and bottom of this division but a hard working, well drilled side can do well in this league even without the quality of the big boys.

I'm quietly confident, though it's imperative that heads don't drop and the fans stay behind them. Survival is the object this season.

i agree, i might have imagined this but im sure last time we where in the championship most people bemoaned his inclusion in the team.

Not after lockdown they didnt and I believe he was playing with a knock when he first arrived and took time to get used to not being at his hometown club where he'd been since he was a kid.
