They both missed the semi-final, which Japan eventually lost in injury time.
Tomiyasu was suspended after picking up two yellows. No idea why Gil wasn't in the squad. Fitness?
Spain will now face Brazil, who knocked out Mexico on penalties.
Better let Plane Guy know that Tomiyasu and Jorge Sanchez might be on the same flight from Tokyo to Heathrow then...

No Tanganga, though he's up against some stiff competition in Aarons and Livramento.

Thought Romero had an ongoing knee injury , so that's him and Lo Celso isolated for 10 days on return as well
Looks like another mess

Calvert-Lewin has withdrawn from the England squad, as he's been playing with a broken big toe.

****'s sake. <doh>

So some teams have refused to release their "red list" players (meaning isolation on return) while others have. Brazil rightly annoyed that several Argentinian PL players will be available to play against them while their PL players don't seem to have been released. Whatever has happened and whatever the reasons this is clearly wrong as the same rules don't apply to all clubs (though the same circumstances do...) How the hell has this happened?

I think Brazil have basically qualified already, so they're not that bothered.
They're 10 points clear of 5th place Colombia and Ecuador are in 3rd, which is unlikely to continue.

Fair enough. I mean your comment is fair enough. It's still not fair if some PL clubs release players and others don't. I think this would be a bigger topic of conversation if it wasn't transfer deadline day. Funny how it's often the clubs with the biggest squads that don't release these players (you know, the ones when bought the pundits say something like they have to have two players for every position to cover all eventualities, but apparently internationals aren't one of those eventualities).
