They would I hope, if they have choice, of viewing what they maybe offered now against what he maybe worth if he has another good season with us.
I definitely think the current squad is capable of at least the play-offs but Dickie is the key element of that. If he goes we would lose quality and balance in our defence and that would be difficult to replace moreso than say Dieng. If we keep him and are in the mix come January he may find staying more realistic with us challenging. As you say, the board need to see the value of promotion...
No, not really. Sorry, should have been clearer, just for sake of argument. Edit - and to be clearer again, I was trying to show that, as Sooper rightly argues, if he is key to a playoff push, he is worth at least £20m to us given the odds on offer. So his value to us should be over that, even though other clubs won't have the same valuation, which is fine.
Good point, as long as there is no major injury or loss of form etc, which is the other side of that coin.
The guy has been a revelation. A difficult start last season as he had to learn and adapt to the Championship - but learn and adapt he did. He showed true character (the type of character I was hoping to see from Dykes this season to be honest). Already this season he has picked up and continued from where he left off last season. Any EPL team outside the top six could be looking at him. He will continue to improve until he is a settled EPL player. I’d like it to be with us, but if an opportunity comes along he has to take it surely (as sure as the board will want the money). It’s where we are. now can we get in and beat the ‘boro tomorrow please. Pretty please!
An Oxford United acquaintance of mine claims they have a substantial sell-on clause, perhaps as much as 20%. Anybody know if this is correct?
I doubt anyone here knows, but it doesn't sound out of the ordinary. The reported fee at the time was undisclosed but put at £2-£2.5m by the press - not huge amounts for one of the best L1 prospects at the time.
He'd be off his head going to Sheffield, they were rubbish against Swansea and worse last night. He has far better prospects staying put...
Danjuma has left Bournemouth and signed for Villarreal....... He was one of their better players last season whenever I watched them......maybe leaves them a bit weaker......
The good thing about all these transfer rumours are that all those players are on long contracts. We do not need to sell but I think it’s obvious that we would sell anyone whose valuation was met. Nobody leaving on the cheap again though. Andre Gray is a cracking loan signing in my opinion. We will definitely need cover for Charlie’s bans and Kelman really isn’t quite cutting it yet.
