Yes I have one of these. I'm there now.
Racing today comes from just the three tracks. Yarmouth, Exeter and Lingfield.

It's not too often that we get to witness a good old fashioned match race. Well we have one today at Exeter in the 3 mile beginner's chase, timed to go at 16:40. On paper and on ratings, the wonderfully named Mumbles Pier takes on the exotically named Spring Moon, a horse with just three runs in the tank in the last 600 days. I've gone over the videos and both looked very tired going to the line, last time out. They might have to time this race with a calendar. So what's it to be, the more seasoned animal, or the new kid on the block? The latter seemed to go ok in the three miler around here, although there were only three in the race. So he's for me. Spring Moon.

Morning, all. Nothing for me today and therefore the old &#8216;no bet&#8217; banner is being employed once more. The cards though aren&#8217;t without interest and the &#8216;lucky last&#8217; at Exeter (where the card has cut up terribly because of the firm ground) and a couple of the 2YO races at Great Yarmouth appeal with an eye to the future.

Good luck though to those of you who do opt to &#8216;surrender your legal tender&#8217;.

Meanwhile, does anyone know Mr O&#8217;Brien&#8217;s running plans re this weekends &#8216;Racing Post Trophy&#8217;???
 
5.30 Boogie Waltzer

This horse has been crying out for a race like this. It should get an easy lead and should really be able to dominate from the front. The horse likes the surface and has been running well in defeat recently. I expect him to make a brave front running effort here and at 4/1 is a fair enough back (with a lay in running just in case)
 
When you get a chance today, do read Mr Fallon in the Guardian. Very informative about his nature.

Exeter now down to 30 runners in their 7 heats! Cor blimey, if it doesn&#8217;t start raining soon the old NH season could be in a bit, and I do mean a bit, of bother.

Meanwhile, its Interesting with a capital 'I' to see that old boy Tregonning runs one at Worcester tomorrow with the McCoy boy up (very well bred one as well). Has he ever had an NH runner before??? I certainly can&#8217;t recall one.
 
One today:

Yarmouth 1.50: KALLIANI 9/2 By Monsun out of 1000 Guineas and Oaks winner Kazzia. This dam has already produced a smart one and I believe she had a maiden winner a couple of months back. Al Zaroonis horses have been well forward on the whole and whilst the Haggas horse (Aniseed) sets a good standard, it looks like one could be able to go past it if good enough, and this one on breeding and jockey bookings suggest a potential bold showing.
 
SBC - You say that Tregonning is running one in a NH race, is see that Andrew Balding has a runner in the last at Exeter today... Though it is not over any jumps, its in the bumper over 1m5f...
 
Tregs has had 2 hurdle runners in the last 5 years

Balding is 1 from 5 with bumper runners in last 5 years and also had winners over hurdles (2) and fences (3) .
 
Come on then Nass, as i dont have a clue to why, but why are they running them then... Is it just something Balding dos just as a try out...??? Because ist obv not what they usually do...
 
I have had a quick look at this horse and the only thing I can suggest is that its been very backwards and they think that the bumper route is the best way of getting it some experience. I say this because its owned by Mr Sutherland who only really has flat horses and Balding seldom sends one to the NH sphere.

As a gelding by Motivator I guess they think that its easier to run it in junior bumpers than trying to find it a maiden on the flat where it probably will be up against better opposition.

Roger Charlton did similar with Keys (not suggesting this one is anything like as good).


Shame I haven't heard anything from the yard, I wonder if the questions have been asked in the media!!
 
So if Megans Motivator actually goes on to win this bumper, just for arguements sake, what will Mr Sutherland suggest then... If, as you say, its been very backwards, they might leave it in for another bumper or to this season. A little break and see what happens after that with a few runs under its belt for the start of the flat season...

Seems strange to me... We shall see...

Nothing takes my eye today so keeping my roubles in my old sky rocket.

Decent cards for tomorrow though and hopefully a few money making opportunities.
