Can you honestly say there are about 12 players that we should have kept from last season? Coz with your six, that still only makes 18, which is not enough!! I despair coz there isn't 3 players i would have kept, zero desire, little ability!!
As Mathie said.....the club had gone stale from top to bottom!! Spot on and the only way to address that problem is to have a complete reboot!
It’s important to keep some perspective and realise that this is a major transitional season. I think promotion can be achieved (and with the quality of players we’re bringing in, on paper, it’s an absolutely fair expectation). However, it’s clear that this squad is still being constructed and it will need time to gel together. The frustrating thing is the competitiveness of the division. There are several good teams in this division - some of whom we’re playing next month. We’re dropping points against beatable opposition. We have never previously lost against Burton. Watching us lose, even in the hope of a grand scheme coming together, still hurts. I just hope the long term objective (promotion this year or next) is worth the hard, short-term pain. As Ipswich supporters, we’ve had a lot of disappointment and false dawns over the years. I sincerely hope this isn’t another - and I don’t believe it will be. My faith in Paul Cook over the months has been rattled somewhat. I think it’s the case for anybody. I hope his previous success wasn’t in large part down to his previous assistant and coaching team. He’s been a driving force for the squad turnover and has publicly alienated players. He tore apart a cosy, complacent culture, which achieved the grand total of one relegation. I’m hoping he can replace it with a winning mentality, and that clearly is still a work in progress.
Nuggets, i actually think we will fair better against the better sides, a bit more time and space for us to play. That pitch today looked tiny, no width, so compact and didn't suit us!
Watched it with the old man and after 5 mins he said to me....this doesn't suit us, we will lose today, there is no space. He was right, i blindly disagreed and said we will adapt but it may take half hour....i was wrong
So you will be expecting to struggle at every away game you play this season? It's just pretty much every team in this league has their pitch width close to burtons and not anywhere near your size. Most teams are between 65 and 68 metres wide. I know Sunderlands is 68. That's standard. Every premier league teams pitch is between 67 and 68 metres wide. Ipswichs pitch width is 75 metres.
Yep maybe, it will take some getting used to but in time...... still win most of our home games and pick up 5 wins away....we will be there or there abouts
Of the players I would have kept that have gone - Edwards, Bish, Lankester, Downes and I think we’ve gone a bit OTT with the forward options without signing anybody that will strike fear into the opposition. Two prolific goal scorers would have done more damage than six average ones.
Also Mr smart arse, i think you will find Burtons pitch is probably one of the smallest but then i could be wrong and I'm sure you will go spend a few hours trying to find out! As i said, you obviously know f all about how poorly Ipswich has been run and how bad the performances have been over the last few seasons, if not...you would have understood why the need for massive changes, from top to bottom!!
Blimey. There’s good intel! You learn something new everyday! it’s a bit weird really having such a different pitch. If it actually makes any difference In theory it’ll cause visiting teams to come unstuck but we’ll struggle at every other ground.
That's my point. I understand you widening the pitch to such an extent if it will give you an advantage over other teams as we aren't used to playing on pitches that size but, if you can't handle the drop to the smaller pitches then maybe that needs looked at. Unless you play two home games in a row, your players will be playing on a markedly different pitch size every game. That's going to be harder to get into and maintain momentum, imo.
Ah so two prolific goals scorers hey....Kane and Mbappe? Come on Yorkie ffs, we are in league one, any prolific goals scorers will be snapped up by the big boys, stop dreaming and get back to the real world ffs!
Smart arse? I haven't attempted to be a 'smart arse' on any posts. I'm just trying to have a chat. All the other posters on here seem reasonable. You just come across as an immature emotional mess. Get a grip of yourself.
Not at all but when people come on here giving their opinion without knowing the full facts....if you are gonna spout off about making too many changes etc, maybe look into why this has happened first. To say we would have been better signing 4 or 5 is way off the mark and proves you know nothing about the situation....just saying!
Why would it look any different to you? Your pitch size hasn't changed, it's always been wide. If you need any more information on Ipswich Town FC, I'm happy for you to message me privately at [email protected]
I would say that most on here would agree that we needed to bin most of the squad and bring in at least ten, i would be shocked if not
