I can’t quite comprehend this notion from Sunderland it was so frustrating last season watching us wander out against other teams that ran at us at speed !
So the crack from earlier in this thread was that we are waiting from the other club for a centre back to sign before they release theirs to us then Wright is off. Have West Ham signed one ? Either way, looks like Wright is off, hopefully to a competitor who needs someone pacy and mobile.
This lad, Cirkin and Doyle and our technical ability has rocketed. Compare that to Wright, McFlange and McLaughlin. Light years better.
Definitely need Bailey Wright to add a bit experience to the back line, imo he's a quality defender in L1. Also LJ has him in his 'leadership group' so he must see him as an integral part at least.
I think us getting Cirkin, allowing Neil to go back to midfield means we were no longer interested in him so he has ended up at his second choice destination, Donny. Well, that's my theory anyway.
I’d lose Wright in a nano second . Really don’t think he’s very good. Canny lad but past it. Ruined by injuries I reckon.
I'm not going to cry if he stays, he's a good player at this level, just not the sort of player Johnson wants in his first XI
Which is an important point to consider - for too many years we've sacked managers mid-season and are left with a squad full of players the new man doesn't want. It's time we started looking at similar models that have seen clubs like Swansea, Luton and Brentford achieve success despite changing the Head Coach - recruitment that isn't just based on the Manager's rolodex and a coaching staff that aren't necessarily his usual picks
