The Aussies are busy losing T20 games to Bangla Desh (2-0 down in the series).

Stokes is a big miss for England, as is Archer to a lesser extent. England's batting is very weak, though.
183 all out. Very good score for the Hundred…….

I know which I'll be watching.

Attendances have been really good for the Hundred and they've gone all out to attract women and kids (having a women's game before the men's is a great idea, I reckon) and I think I heard that 23% of ticket sales have been kids' tickets, so it has been a success in those terms.

It shouldn't be allowed to detract from the real game, though.
If the women's game was seperate would you have record the attendance.....by name??

I really don't get the hundred. I could understand the 20/20, but why the new format. I've tried to watch it but the graphics are horrible. As a cricket aficionado, I don't have a clue as to what is going on.

Regardless of how both England and Australia are currently playing, if the series does proceed, l hope both countries are at their best.
It would make for a great series, however, based on current comment, its not looking good.

England back in it, India 125/4 but Rain Stopped Play..........Rahul was dropped at slip just before the weather closed in........

5 day Test cricket is the backbone of the game itself. There are some things in life that should not be tampered with. Test cricket must be retained or the game will wither.

The greed of the almighty dollar and an instant result may kill cricket off as we know it.

Modern day players wrapped in sponsorship money yearn for their wags to hold their hands as they go out to bat.

Ah, the days of Bradman and alike, where every second ball would take your head off, where a batsman could score a hundred in a session and the want of a players wag nearby never got a look in.

Boonie sinking 52 beers in flight to London in preparation of the first Test match, was poetry in motion. Today, the marshmallows impersonating cricketers, cry in their coffee lattes from the stresses of earning so much corporate dollars.

Maybe l’m just an old fart reminiscing of the chant of Lillee, Thompson, Lillee….Howzat!

The problem is nobody watches red ball county cricket.

True but not many people watch much junior development and grassroots stuff either but all cricketers worldwide should be blooded on the 5 day game, then, once they have mastered the technique, move on to further develop their speed and timing in the short game.

Each country should should fund this development, otherwise, what happened in the music industry ( where they stop encouraging bands to play in pubs ) they killed off industry to what you see today.
No quality bands, no guitar players, no decent singers, just techno crap and computer generated rubbish.
Anyway, just my two bobs worth.

If only England’s batters could make it a 5 day game

Just read that NZ cricket great Chris Cairns is on life supports.
Apparently had a medical event on the weekend.
Thoughts & wishes to his family.

That's terrible and doesn't sound promising. It was an aortic dissection which surgeons were unable to repair despite several attempts.

India 266-2 at Lords.

****ing hell, it’s Test cricket! Won’t catch on………

Bit cloudy so Joe put them in to bat. I’m probably wrong but I never had Lords as a big swing ground, it does stuff off the pitch there.

It does swing at Lord's and today looked like a day when it might. Kohli would have bowled too, but both views were probably based more on the weakness of England's batting than weather conditions.

Not sure if the Ashes as being played but l just thought a nice wholesome photo of the Aussies with the urn would be a something to look forward to.
( well, for me that is )

Hey, when you consider how badly we've been playing of late, it might be the last time we hold it for a while!
Geez l hope it goes ahead, win, lose or draw.

338/7 .....India still ahead in the game.......anything over 350 will be challenging for England top order.......
