Sorry but that's a load of absolute codswallop. Batting has been poor for over 10 years? This while we have been regarded as the best test side in the world?

Cook, Root and Stokes. There's 3 of the worlds best straight off the top of my head.

How will our team be ripped apart when Anderson and Broad retire when we've been integrating the likes of Wood, Archer and Woakes for a while now? You could make a case that this next generation of bowlers are at least on par with Broad and Anderson these days.

We have more than enough talent to remain one of the top test sides but I feel our weakness is with Root as captain but more importantly Chris Silverwood as our head coach because we seem to be going backwards since his arrival.

Cooks been retired a while now and towards the end he was nowhere near as consistent as he had been.

Root has been steadily averaging in the top 5 batsmen in the world I'll give you that.

Stokes is a fantastic batsman but not a great test batsman. Yes hes had the odd brilliant innings but more often than not is out in the teens or 20's. His test average is 37 which is far from outstanding.

As for the bowlers you've mentioned Wood and Archer have both shown promise but are A inconsistent and B very injury prone. Woakes has done well whenever hes played but for some reason the selectors seem to permanently mess him around and hes only selected when theres injuries so hasn't been able to get much consistency.

It's all about opinions I guess but in my opinion we are nowhere near a top level test outfit and dont look like being again for a while.

Have some sympathy with the England Team - most of them are having to play themselves into nick at the highest level.
I called a first baller for Hameed as he walked out - just felt so predictable.

Any team would miss Stokes, Archer and Broad
