Sadly a logical progression and we should decide whether we want to play in this particular s*** hole or not. It started with clubs keeping home receipts, and now they are talking about the "big boys" keeping the telly money. No relegation is the next step, and why not? Completely awful, and typical of the way football has been going - down the pan.

Even though we got relegated eventually..it was still worth it to have the excitement of relegation and promotion. The PL would be pointless without the sense of danger.
Nail on head. That was the start off point. The legacy of the old values is the FA Cup, which to this day, distributes the gate receipts down the middle. Think the League Cup does too.
No relegation would lead to teams really letting themselves go if they have no chance of titles/Europe. It's an awful idea. You would have a big 4/5 and everyone else dire. After people get bored, they turn over to the Championship, thus leaving the PL redundant. It would be a disaster.
This seems more likely to be a gambit to increase their take rather than a realistic proposition...can't imagine that, even as blinded by greed as many of owners are, they fail to see the pitfalls of this idea.
Relegation clears out the dead wood and keeps the league fresh. A relegation battle gives the teams at the bottom something to play for, as well as the teams at the top.
I think the timing of such comments seems somewhat suspicious when the government are demanding changes in the FA. It also allows the Premiership to create a smokescreen for other current wranglings and finally why do people think all these foreign investors have bought clubs, surely it is to return a profit. It is the kind of story the Daily Mail love and can use the word 'Foreigner' in the title.
Indeed. Plus the LMA suggest that the foreign owned clubs only need to be joined by 5 more to swing a vote and get some proposals talked about, if not actually started. Well, we are a foreign owned club. Leicester City are too. It's not as if they are thin on the ground. They also don't have to be foreign owned, but just like minded. Yes, the FA has a veto. Who says they would use it..? Whenever were the best interests of the paying fans, catered for..? This isn't crying wolf, IMO. It's just a very early call to be wary.
This would be tantamount to a cartel which would be illigal I would have thought. If it did happen it would mean the end of investment in Championship teams and may trigger the sale of many of the Championship clubs at the slightest hint that it is going to happen. Capitalism is really starting to stink. Open competition has always been the underlying principle of capitalism but now that some businesses are richer than some countries competion is being discarded and protectionism introduced.
The only part of this I disagree with is the "starting" part. Capitalism has stunk for many, many years. The irony of all this is that if the Premier league did become a closed shop it would cease to have any relevance for anyone other than supporters of the top 5 or 6 clubs, so no-one else would buy Sky TV to fund it any longer.

It's not just the common good...it's for their own good. Doing away with promotion/relegation is one of the few ways that they could kill the golden goose.
Incidentally, good on Sir Alex, Villa-Boas and the others who have spoken against this in the strongest terms possible.
