Ings has ability but he wasn't available much last season. He also looked very rusty/disinterested in preseason.
How long ago was Puel? 5 years now?! Let it go Ian!
Let's wait and see. I love the way we are "Strong relegation candidates" now.
Thing is this time last year same was being said about Villa. Football's a funny old game.
As it stands we surely are relegation candidates? Don't think its mental in any way at all to suggest that really.
3 promoted sides plus us, Palace and Newcastle are the only ones I can see being involved really.

Omg. Literally disagree with everything you say. Ralph had had enough of Ings. Players tested tonight will all be back for Saturdays final dress rehearsal friendly. We looked really bright tonight. Have a deeper squad and some players really starting to blossom. All the negativity is so drainingI cannot see what other option Saints had with Danny Ings. The £25 million fee is ok-ish in the light of 20% going to Liverpool and, has been pointed out, the remaining £20 million is not a lot in today's money. Ings will be a massive miss for Saints but I am far more disappointed with his attitude than Saints.
I am surprised by the comments that the money is sure to be reinvested. I think that they will stick with Obafemi and the cash only spent when things go wrong before the January transfer window.
The person I feel sorry for is Hassenhutl. We will struggle without Ings and he will almost certainly not be the last one out of the door. There is no Vestergaard nor JWP in the friendly tonight and I think both will be gone by time the season kicks off. Obefemi and Djneppo also missing. The line up tonight looks short on quality and I am curious if this will signal any future departures.
I am wondering about Ralph's situation. Have we ever had a manager who had either been undermined or been the victim of circumstances like him before? As I have said previously, given the hand he has been dealt, I am really still on the fence as to his ability as a manager. My gut feeling is that he knows what he is doing but those around him controlling the purse strings are making the job very difficult for him. Other than Perraud, I see the other arrivals as supplementing the academy as opposed to improving the first team. If Ralph gets the chop due to performances this coming season, there is only a proportion of the balme that can be levelled at him. I don't feel he is being permitted to operate as he would wish.
Every year we are potential relegation candidates.
I think we'll have an ok season and finish mid table.
. All the negativity is so draining
Well it was looking less and less likely he was going to sign.
Im not that worried about losing him, more that we now have no goal scorers in the team.
They surely wouldn’t have let him go at this stage without a replacement all lined up?
So who will we get? Even if the whole £25m is invested you don’t get a proven goal scorer that cheap?
I quite like that.I put this on another thread but probably more use here

Indeed and don’t forget Ings only scored 12 last year and he could well have got less this year and be sat on his backside with an injuryDanny Ings cost us less than that. You don't necessarily need to buy a proven goal scorer, but one with the potential to become one. At least for a club like us anyway.
