What would you do for the team next weekend? Assuming we get a couple in before then would you start them or not? Any new signings now go to the bench for me. Pre season performances have been good enough for a bit of patience with them. Maybe if we sign a standout defender by Tuesday so they get a couple of days in there is a case. I wouldnt be upset to see what we have turn out again. Patterson Winchester, Flannagan, Doyle, Neil Evans, Embleton, O'Nien Gooch, Stewart, McGeady
I thinknl it is a 50/50 call on the keeper. You might be right as a bit of experience in the back 5 might be best.
Yeh it’s not what I want, just what I think will happen. I reckon if we sign either full back by Tuesday they will play, if not they’ll be sub. Jebbison if he signs even tonight for example I can see being sub on opening day.
Patterson Winchester Flanagan Doyle Neil Evans O’Nien Embleton Gooch Stewart McGeady SUBS: Burge Younger Diamond Hawkes Taylor O’Brien Grigg That’s what I’d play with the CURRENT squad. Fully expecting Burge to start, though.
Would be delighted to see Neil in the 11 but would obviously prefer him in the midfield. I honestly think he will reach the top. Embleton has been a revelation to me, I knew he was good but he has looked like an exceptional midfielder so far, long may it continue. Wouldnt it be brilliant to have 4 home grown lads in the team.
Burge will start if fit imo. I'd like a left back in asap as well tbh. Winchester will be ok at RB for a game or two but it's the lb we need in first. Edit: very happy if that's the front 4 btw.
Think it will be this unless McGeady is still out: Burge Winchester Flanagan Doyle Neil Evans O’Nien Gooch Embleton McGeady Stewart
I think very similar mate. I reckon it will be a more 433 with the middle 3 having licence to attack between them. 2 allowed to go and 1 to sit. I would love to see them being really unpredictable in terms of who sits, makes the opposition guess. If we have a set 3 out of posession it give some cover to the full backs as well. O'nien helping Neil could be key.
I can only see it going one of two ways: 1. The younger lads will freeze, we will go behind and it will be a long 90 minutes with the pressure on Speakman increasing x 10 2. We will tear them apart with Embleton and McGeady running riot and Doyle turning in a dominant display on his home league debut. They struggle defensively I've read and I think we have to go at them. 2 for me
