Forget Speakman, who it feels is much more focused on internal football stuff and getting the set up right. I’m much more confident in this Harvey fella as our recruitment lead than I have been for anybody previously at our club.

might be why there was a slight slow start as Harvey got himself sorted. I think Speakman by his own admission would never claim to be a recruitment expert. He’s all about setting the infrastructure and the coaching etc up

Even the Keane promotion team did not really click until the January with the arrival of Simpson, Evans and Edwards.

Patience is the key with this window in getting the right players for the system we want to play.

Aye I think we’ll see a different style of play from last season.

It might take time but we’ll get there.

i think we already are, definite forward movement in our play now, even when no way forward we went back and played out again (might be harder to do against better opposition of course) but completely different to the stagnant side to side and back then repeat we have been watching.

I'd rather take a hit for a couple of games and get the right people in, look at the Keane seasons

6 games in until we got are team sorted, and we won the league still
It wasn't really until January, when that team/squad was properly sorted. Evans, Simpson, Edwards and to a lesser extent Stern John, made a world of difference. I'd rather sign the players we want, than sign just anyone.

Spot on with what your saying, having midfielders receiving the ball on the half turn and playing forward passes was really nice to see.

It's a shame that there isn't a 3rd season of Sunderland til I die. Last two showed just how clueless the last 2 ownerships were during transfer windows. If these lads are a good as we think they're going to be, it's a shame we won't get to see them work.
