yeah is really competitive but most also have the right approach as well. Its both the talent and the fact they know how to win at this level.
Look at malan yesterday. doing "alright" he's playing a 50 over game. ticking along at a run a ball. If he had have stuck in we might well have lost the game! he goes and Livingstone comes in and he gets a 6 and is out next ball. but we instantly start getting on with it again. Jordan finishes the job running and did really well.
Malan is a really good50 over player. not sure he's walk into the T20 teams though. bit harsh but thats the level of top top players around him.
But buttler, Morgan, bairstow, stokes, ali, livingstone, roy, jordan, rashid, all really know how to go hard and with urgency. roy was absolutely brilliant last night. hold my beer stuff to buttler who just sottd and watched.
the livingstone "emergence" is really positive but theres others after popping in like parkinson and mahmood so it all adds to the picture at each level.
as for the 100, i don't see the point myself its just not that different enough surely
Hmm Malan is a funny one. He doesn’t look as explosive as the others, but he was/is ranked number 1 in the world. I think they showed a stat that first 18 balls or so he generally goes at juat over 100 but from 18 onwards his strike rate rockets to around 180. Now if he faced 30 balls, great cos you’re looking at 50 plus from 30. If he faces 15 Doesnt look great. It’s hard to leave him out based on his figures, and in some games he’s crucial to get a bit of stability. But you don’t really want him coming in from the 2nd over and wasting those first power play.
Harsh on Morgan, think his batting is top notch abs arguably best captain around in one day stuff.
Think some talented players coming through. Archer when fit, Mahmood had looked great. Phil Salt is very exciting, shame he wasn’t given chance in t20 as did decent in the 50 over game he played getting 60.
Agree about 100 not being different enough. It’s really only the franchise stuff that makes it so different so I do wonder if this is the start of franchise teams becoming more norm in the uk. Maybe getting rid of the county t20 blast?
