Early I know, as there's still over 2 months until the transfer window opens, but on the basis of the season so far, what areas of the squad do you feel need strenthening?

Or does the squad need strenthening at all given our performance so far this season?

Or is it too early to say, given we're still only in October?

Personally, looking at the season so far, I reckon we could do with 3 quality players; another centre-half, winger and striker to really complete the squad.

never too early to be thinking about transfers! im pretty sure we'll be going back in for billy sharp in jan and he might actually want to leave if donny are still right down there. he is far too good for league 1.

We need two areas.. of strengthening... Right back and Striker upfront in case lambert gets injured.. the rest of the team is fine for now!!

I'd like to add, Nigel should either get Jos hooiveld on loan till the end of the season or sign him then!! Looking to be a good signing for us! and for possibly peanuts

In The Sun newspaper (not reliable I know) but says: Nigel Atkins is lining up a January swoop for Barnsley captain Jacob Butterfield. The attacking midfielder, 21, has been a revelation this season and Saints will bid £1.5M.
Only a rumour but would seem to fit the profile of player NA would bring onto our bus.

RB?? I think Richardson has been one of our players of the season so far. In particular, I've been exceptionally impressed with him going forward - I noticed yesterday that only four players in the whole division have more assists than him (and one of those four is Lallana).

I've been a fan of Butterfield's for a while now. He's always impressed me. Didn't realise he was their captain these days.

Agree with St Brendy on the RB, Richardson's done well and we can cover that position....as stated we're very short in the attacking department, the only attacking option on our bench recently has been De Ridder who's not an out and out forward.....NA seems to have no faith in Forte and god knows what's going on with Barney...injury, court case..never ending.

The players in teams that are settling for survival or mid-table will have players that want to move to a club with more ambition short-term. A striker and the renewal/permanent signing of Hooiveld would suit me. Jay Rod would be good.

To be honest I could really see Forte going out on loan somewhere as there has been a real lack of opportunities for him this season.

I always got the impression that Adkins was a big fan of his, but as his absence from the team suggests, perhaps he's just not cutting it at training compared to everyone else.

I can also see Puncheon returning from his loan spell in January, he doesn't seem to be cutting it at QPR at all. It's going to be even harder for us to ship him out for big money as a lack of first team chances this season wont be doing him or us any favours when it comes to attracting clubs prepared to pay a lot for him.

Yeah i understand this.. but tbh if he is injured which could happen we are left with butterfield.. and i'm not very confident with him!! So someone to give richardson good competition would only help anyways!

I quite like the look of young Jacob Butterfield at Barnsley. Is he related to Danny?

The Butterfield rumour was in the Guardian too.

I think we need a pacey striker and a centre back depending on Hooiveld/Seabourne/Jaidi situation. As for a striker Maynard or Rodriguez would be excellent and we need someone mobile who we think could do a job in the Premiership should the unthinkable happen. Personally that rules out Sharp and Jutkiewicz.

We won't get a lot for Puncheon now...like you day not cutting it at QPR so a permanent deal unlikely and I think he's out of contract at the end of the season.

His contract isn't up until 2013, so Cortese is probably going have to suck it in and take a loss on him unfortunately. It's either that or we loan him out for another year and a half and get nothing for him when he's out of contract, which is not desirable at all.

I think we need a striker, someone just a bit different,a nippy little goal poacher would compliment the squad excellently, although he's annoying i actually like Charlie Austin, think he'd suit us well.Other than that, possibly a winger and also get Jos tied up to a longer loan or a permanent deal and we'd be good to go.

I think he`ll go for a striker - I like Gary Hooper at Celtic - quick, strong, direct. And he knows this division.

I like the look of Butterfield as well; not entirely sure where he would fit in this season, but he would be a nice addition with an eye to the future.

Beyond that, a striker seems a must given the state of Barnard's ankle, and a defender with the versatility to provide cover at RB and CB wouldn't hurt.
